K-State Hosts Texas and Baylor at Body First Tennis Center

Wildcats first face Texas at 5 p.m. Friday
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team hosts the first two Big 12 opponents of the season, Texas and Baylor, at Body First Tennis Center.
K-State (2-11, 0-2 Big 12) faces No. 14 Texas (10-3, 1-1 Big 12) on Friday (March 17) at 5 p.m. CT.
The Wildcats are 0-7 against the Longhorns, losing last season in Austin 4-0. In that last match on April 10, 2022, then freshman Florentine Dekkers and senior Rosanna Maffei both competed in unfinished matches against Sabina Zeynalova and Vivian Ovrootsky, respectively.
Texas has two women ranked in the singles top-100— Charlotte Chavatipon at No. 58 and Marlee Zein at No. 91. The Longhorns also have one ranked doubles team in No. 27 Charlotte Chavatipon and Sabina Zeynalova.
On Sunday (March 19), K-State will meet No. 53 Baylor (8-8, 0-2 Big 12) at 12 p.m. CT.
The Wildcats are 1-6 against the Bears, losing last season in Waco 4-1. The lone victory came during the 2018 season when K-State won at home in Manhattan 4-3.
Last week in the start of Big 12 competition, K-State traveled to West Virginia and Iowa State, dropping a pair of close matches. Dekkers and freshman Vanesa Suarez were both victorious against ranked Cyclones in a close 4-2 match. Dekkers defeated No. 53 ranked Thasaporn Naklo 6-3, 6-3, while Suarez earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over No. 87 Miska Kadleckova.
Texas went 1-1 in the first weekend of Big 12 play, as the Longhorns beat No. 20 Oklahoma, 5-2, before losing to No. 34 Oklahoma State, 4-3. Baylor was winless last weekend as the Bears lost 4-3 to the Cowgirls before a 6-1 setback to the Sooners.
