K-State Track & Field Starts Outdoor Season in San Antonio

Events on Friday begin at 2 p.m.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's and women's track and field teams start the outdoor season with the two-day UTSA Invitational in San Antonio, Texas on Friday (March 17) and Saturday (March 18) at the Park West Athletic Complex.
On Friday the field events start with the women's hammer throw at 2 p.m., CT. On Saturday the men's pole vault begins at 11 a.m., CT.
The Wildcats look to travel the majority of the team, with some athletes competing for the first time this year. Freshmen Babs Koeman and Saydee Tanking looking to compete in their first collegiate meet, along with senior Kerby Depenbusch, sophomore Darian Clarke and juniors Joe Placek and Baylee Unruh.
Multiple Wildcats hold records in this UTSA Invitational from 2021; two men in Noah Stevenson during the 1,500 meters, which he ran in 3:50.89, and Matas Adamonis in the decathlon with 7,293 points. Three women hold records as well, including Taylor Latimer in the shot put at 17.12 meters, Ashley Petr in the discus at 55.20 meters, Lauren Taubert in the heptathlon with 5,713 points and the women's 1,600 meter relay team with a time of 3:37.64.
During the Big 12 Indoor Championships, 15 Wildcats took home medals, including three women in the weight throw, junior Jasmine Greer the runner-up with a new personal best, three men in the high jump, junior Urte Bacianskaite and sophomore Madelyn McCabe in the pentathlon and sophomore Emil Uhlin in the heptathlon, along with the men's and women's distance medley relay teams and men's 4x400 relay.
K-State finished the indoor season with two top-five marks in the USTFCCCA event squad rankings. After four straight weeks at No. 4, the women's weight throw team finished 3rd, behind only No. 1 Wisconsin and No. 2 Ole Miss. The men's high jump finished 4th, behind Louisville, Texas Tech and Nebraska, after being No. 5 for three straight weeks. The women's shot put was also ranked at No. 15.
