Cats Looking to Continue Momentum at the All-American Collegiate
Mar 19, 2023 | Men's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. - Fresh off its fourth championship of the season at The Johnnie-O, the 17th-ranked Kansas State men's golf team now turns its attention to the All-American Collegiate, hosted by No. 46 Houston, Monday and Tuesday in Humble, Texas at the par-72, 7,425-yard Golf Club of Houston.
"We are looking forward to competing this week in Houston," said head coach Grant Robbins. "The Golf Club of Houston is a great golf course that hosted the PGA Tour's Houston Open for several years. It plays fairly long and has water that comes into play on several holes. Being able to drive it well is going to key for us this week."
Robbins is sticking with a scoring lineup comprised of Tim Tillmanns, Will Hopkins, Nicklaus Mason, Luke O'Neill, and Cooper Schultz.Â
Laurenz Schiergen will be playing in an individual tournament on the Member Course.Â
Tillmanns earned the one spot in the lineup after his dominant performance at the Johnnie-O, where he won the individual title with a career-low 12-under par 198. It was the first victory of his collegiate career.Â
This week will be another great opportunity for the Wildcats as they march through their six regular season spring events. Houston will welcome a massive 21-team field that includes Abilene Christian, Arkansas State, Charleston Southern, Georgia State, Lamar, No. 36 Louisvillle, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, No. 47 LSU, No. 29 Mississippi, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston, Southern Miss, No. 14 Tennesse, Texas State, ULM, UT Rio Grande Valley, and UTSA.Â
Two rounds of the 54-hole event will be played on Monday, with the final round scheduled for Tuesday. Play will begin each morning at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Fans can follow live results on Golfstat.com.
