K-State Win Four Events in Last Day of Emporia State Relays

The Wildcats will compete next in the Texas Relays starting on Wednesday
EMPORIA, Kan.- The K-State men's and women's track and field teams competed on Saturday (March 25) in the final day of the Emporia State Relays at the Zola Witten Track at the Francis G. Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kan.
Three Wildcats won four events, two from junior Urte Bacianskaite, while ten more finished in the top-five, including four athletes with a third place finish.
Bacianskaite started the day winning the women's long jump with a new personal best jump of 6.00m/19-8.25 and ended the day in the women's javelin with a winning throw of 47.39m/155-5, another new personal best.
Two other wins came from freshman Grace Meyer in the women's 1,500 meters with a time of 4:39.13, her first attempt in the event, and freshman Claire Bybee in the women's pole vault tying her personal best height of 3.90m/12-9.50.
Four athletes finished in third place, junior Maddie Righter in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.66m/18-7, sophomore Bryce Collins in the men's high jump with a height of 2.02m/6-7.50, junior Aubry Donley in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:16.53 and junior Jesse Pinkley in the men's pole vault with a height of 4.90m/16-0.75.
Junior Reagan Hukill (5th; 3.65m/11-11.75) was the third Wildcat to compete in the pole vault, and sophomore Madelyn McCabe (5th; 5.43m/17-9.75 ) rounded out the top-five in the long jump.
Two men also competed in the 800 meters, sophomore Alex Gutierrez in second place with a time of 1:53.41, junior Jack Vincent finishing fifth in 1:54.74.
Two other Wildcats competed with new personal bests, freshman Saydee Tanking in the javelin throw at 41.88m/137-5 in ninth place and sophomore Darius O'Connell in the men's shot put where he finished fourth with a throw of 17.54m/57-6.50.
K-State competes next in the Texas Relays starting on Wednesday (March 29) through Saturday (April 1) at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
