
K-State’s Gregory, Sundell Earn All-Big 12 Distinctions

MANHATTAN, Kansas – Senior guard Gabby Gregory and sophomore guard Serena Sundell represented K-State among the All-Big 12 squads, as the league office announced the 2022-23 Phillips 66 All-Big 12 Women's Basketball Awards on Monday.
Gregory was named to the All-Big 12 First Team for the first time in her college career, while Sundell collected her second straight All-Big 12 Honorable Mention citation. This is the ninth straight season K-State has had two or more players earn All-Big 12 honors.
In the 2022-23 season, Gregory established career season-highs in every statistical category including: scoring (561; 18.7 ppg), field goals made and attempted (174-of-434), three-point field goals made and attempted (71-of-227), free throws made and attempted (142-of-168), rebounding (162; 5.4 rpg), assists (60; 2.0 apg) and steals (21; 0.7 spg).
The product of Tulsa, Oklahoma, ranked second in the Big 12 in scoring (18.7 ppg), third in free throw percentage (.845), seventh in field goal percentage (.401), 3-point field goals made per game (2.37) and minutes played per game (34.14) and 15th in rebounding (5.4 rpg). She also led the Big 12 with 17 games of 20 or more points.
Gregory is one of six players in the nation averaging 18 or more points, five or more rebounds and two or more 3-point field goals made per game. She is the first player in K-State history and one of five in the nation with 550 or more points, 140 or more made free throws and 70 or more connections from beyond the arc.
She ranks third in school history for free throws made in a season and has set the school record for free throws made by a senior in a season.
In league play, Gregory ranked third in the Big 12 in scoring (16.94), third in free throw percentage (.845), fourth in minutes played per game (36.80), ninth in 3-point field goals made per game (2.06), 11th in field goal percentage (.376).
Sundell expanded upon her debut season in 2021-22 with an exemplary 2022-23 campaign, as she has carded career season-highs in a number of categories including: scoring (427; 13.8 ppg), field goals made (132), field goal percentage (.482), free throws made and attempted (144-of-183), rebounding (145; 4.7 rpg), blocks (24; 0.8 bpg) and steals (56; 1.80 spg). Sundell's 158 assists this season ranks third in school history in a sophomore season.
The native of Maryville, Missouri, ranks 12th in scoring in the Big 12, fourth in assists (5.10 apg), sixth in steals (1.81 spg), eighth in assist/turnover percentage (1.55), ), 10th in blocks per game (0.77 bpg), 10th in minutes played per game (33.15) and 13th in free throw percentage (.787).
With her two-season totals of 778 points and 334 assists, Sundell is the first Wildcat in program history to register 775 or more points and 325 or more assists by the conclusion of their sophomore season.
Sundell's career assist total of 334 ranks 12th on the K-State career assists list. She has led K-State in assists in 51 of her 64 career games.
Sundell ranks second in school history for free throws made in a season with 144. Sundell's 183 free throw attempts ranks sixth in school history for a single season and the most by a guard in program history. Her 183 free throw attempts are the most by a Wildcat since Nicole Ohlde attempted 196 free throws in the 2003-04 season.
In league action, Sundell increased her scoring average to 15.11 points per game and ranked eighth in the Big 12. She ranked among the league leaders in: steals per game (2nd; 2.17); assists per game (4th; 5.06), free throw percentage (11th; .760), blocked shots per game (11th; 0.72), assist/turnover ratio (12th; 1.18) and minutes played (12th; 34.37).
Up next for K-State is the 2023 Phillips 66 Big 12 Women's Basketball Championship. The Wildcats are slated as the nine-seed and will face the eight-seed, Texas Tech, on Thursday at 5 p.m., in Kansas City at Municipal Auditorium. Session and single-game tickets are available at big12sports.com.
