K-State Wraps Up Competition in Texas With Seven Top-10 Finishes

Wildcats will next head to Tucson, Arizona on Thursday April 6

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's and women's track and field teams competed on Saturday (April 1) in the last day of competition in the Texas Relays at the Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas at the Texas State Track and Field Complex.
 
The Wildcats took first and second place in the men's and women's 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Bobcat Invitational, with seven more top-10 finishes.
 
Freshman Grace Meyer won the women's steeplechase with a new personal best time of 10:52.01, sophomore Tommy Hazen taking second with a time of 9:21.95.
 
Sophomore Grace Thompson finished second in the women's shot put with a new personal best throw of 15.56m/51-0.5, junior Jasmine Greer also finished in the top-five with a fifth place distance of 15.18m/49-9.75.
 
Three Wildcats competed for the second time in three days of competition, junior Emma Robbins taking second in the women's hammer throw with a throw of 65.94m/216-4, junior Kade McCall competing in the men's hammer, finishing 10th again with a distance of 60.53m/198-7. Junior Shalom Olotu competed in the women's triple jump this time, finishing 13th with a jump of 12.24m/40-2.
 
Junior Nicolas-Jean Moulin competed in the men's 400 meter dash for the first time with a time of 49.47 seconds.
 
Junior Charlotte Cattermole-Williams competed in the women's hammer throw, placing 19th out of 40 competitors with a throw of 54.97m/180-4.
 
The Wildcats only competed in the men's 4x800 meter relay at the Texas Relays, the team consisting of sophomores Will Carroll and Alex Gutierrez and juniors Jack Vincent and Mike Rohlinger, finished eighth with a time of 7:38.50.
 
K-State will send four athletes, sophomores Emil Uhlin and Madelyn McCabe and juniors Urte Bacianskaite and Maddie Righter to compete in the Jim Click Combined Events, decathlon and heptathlon, in Tucson, Ariz. on Thursday (April 6) and Friday (April 7).
