Two Women Sit in Heptathlon Top-Five, Uhlin in Fourth in Decathlon

Combined Events continue tomorrow starting at 11:30 a.m. CT
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's and women's track and field teams had four athletes compete in the first day of the Jim Click Combined Events on Thursday (April 6) in Tucson, Ariz., at the Drachman Stadium.
Through five events of the decathlon sophomore Emil Uhlin sits in fourth place with 3,815 points, against 12 competitors.
Uhlin finished in the top-five in three events, taking third with a new personal best in the long jump at 6.99m/22-11.25. He also finished third in the shot put at 13.02m/42-8.75 and tied for fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.92m/6-3.50. He also ran two new personal bests on the track too, in the 100 meter dash personal best in 11.31 seconds and in the 400 meter dash in a fourth place time of 50.05 seconds.
After four events of the heptathlon, junior Urte Bacianskaite sits in second place with 3,356 points, 50 points behind Bailey Golden of Oklahoma State. Junior Maddie Righter is in fourth place with 3,219 points, and sophomore Madelyn McCabe has 3,002 points in 11th place, against 15 competitors.
Bacianskaite won the shot put with a throw of 14.41m/47-3.40, her second best mark in the high jump with a fourth place height of 1.68m/5-6. She ran new personal bests in the 100 meter hurdles in 14.73 seconds and in the 200 meter dash in 25.66 seconds.
Bacianskaite has won the shot put 14 consecutive times, 16 out of 17, while competing in the pentathlon or heptathlon. The only time she didn't win the event, she took second during the K-State Winter Invitational in December 2020. She won the shot put three times competing in the pentathlon during this indoor season, including during the Texas Tech Open & Multis (Jan. 26-28) when she threw her personal best of 14.79m/48-6.25.
Righter had her best finish in the high jump with a third place height of 1.71m/5-7.25. She then finished fourth in the shot put with a new personal best throw of 12.38m/40-7.50. She also completed a new best in the 100 meter hurdles in 14.76 seconds and in the 200 meter dash in 26.06 seconds.
McCabe also saw her best performances of the day in the high jump, tying for fifth place at 1.65m/5-5 and the shot put, seventh with a throw of 11.64m/38-2.25. She ran the 100 meter hurdles in 15.03 seconds and the 200 meter dash in 26.76 seconds.
2021 alumna Tejaswin Shankar is also competing in the decathlon, currently sitting in first place with 4,427 points. He finished second in both the long jump (7.62m/25-0) and shot put (13.34m/43-9.25).
The combined events finish up tomorrow starting at 11:30 a.m. CT with the decathlon 110 meter hurdles, the heptathlon long jump starts at 1 p.m. CT.
