K-State Sends Four Athletes to Compete in Jim Click Combined Events

Competition starts Thursday at 12:30 p.m. CT

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's and women's track and field teams will send four athletes to Tucson, Ariz., for the Jim Click Combined Events on Thursday (April 6) and Friday (April 7) at the Drachman Stadium.
 
Sophomore Emil Uhlin will compete in the men's decathlon, while junior Urte Bacianskaite, sophomore Madelyn McCabe and junior Maddie Righter will participate in the women's heptathlon.
 
On Thursday, the heptathlon will start with the 100 meter hurdles at 12:30 p.m., CT, while the decathlon 100 meter dash will begin at 1 p.m., CT.
 
Uhlin has competed in the decathlon twice with his personal-best score of 7,587 points coming at the 2022 Big 12 Outdoor Championships last season when he finished fourth overall. He has competed just once this outdoor season, recording a throw of 41.53m/136-3 in the discus at the Emporia State Relays on March 24-25.
 
Bacianskaite has competed in the heptathlon five times with her personal-best score of 5,664 points also coming at 2022 Big 12 Outdoor Championships. Her score ranks No. 8 on the school's heptathlon top-10. She has competed in two meets so far in the outdoor season, winning the long jump (6.00m/19-8.25) and javelin (47.39m/155-6) at the ESU Relays on March 24-25.
 
McCabe's best heptathlon score came last season at the Jim Click Shootout when she finished with 5,105 points. She won the javelin competition with her current best throw of 40.65m/133-4. At the UTSA Invitational (March 17-18) she competed in four events, placing fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.06 seconds. She also participated in the ESU Relays, where she finished in fifth in the long jump at 5.43m/17-9.75.
 
Righter will compete in her first heptathlon, having competed in six pentathlons during her indoor career. So far during this outdoor season she has competed in two meets, recording a new 100 meter hurdle personal best during the UTSA Invitational at 15.30 seconds and finishing third in the long jump at the ESU Relays at 5.66m/18-7.
 
The Wildcats competed in two meets in Texas last weekend, in the Texas Relays (March 29-April 1) in Austin and at the Bobcat Invitational (March 31-April 1) in San Marcos, collecting 21 top-10 finishes overall.
 
Junior Emma Robbins competed in both meets, taking second in the Bobcat Invitational with a throw of 65.94m/216-4, and third in the women's hammer throw. She's currently No. 8 in the NCAA Division I women's standings for the event, claiming the No. 1 spot in the Big 12 conference.
 
Junior Hannah Stewart finished second in the Texas Relays women's 3,000 meter steeplechase at 10:19.23, which ranks No. 5 on the K-State women's 3,000 meter steeplechase records. Senior Stephen Kielhofner also landed in the K-State outdoor record book in the Texas Relays men's 1,500 meters with a time of 3:45.05, which ranks No. 9 all-time.
