K-State to Compete in Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco

Competition starts at 11 a.m. on Friday

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's and women's track and field teams will head down to Waco, Texas for the Michael Johnson Invitational on Friday (April 21) and Saturday (April 22) hosted by Baylor at Clyde Hart Stadium.
 
On Friday the women's hammer throw will begin at 11 a.m., CT, while Saturday's events will start at 11 a.m., CT with the women's javelin.
 
The field includes several top-25 ranked teams, including Baylor's No. 20-ranked men, Iowa's No. 13 men, Kentucky's No. 10 ranked women, Nebraska's No. 14 men and No. 21 women and Texas Tech's No. 2 men.
 
The Wildcats last competed in the three-day Mt. SAC Relays on April 13-15 in Walnut, Calif., with multiple top-10 performances.
 
Junior Hannah Stewart won the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase with a new personal-best time of 10:14.79, which is now No. 4 on the K-State women's top-10 records. Senior Stephen Kielhofner took third in the men's 5,000 meters with a new personal-best time of 13:51.20, which is now No. 3 in the Wildcats' top-10.
 
Sophomore Marcus Gelpi and freshman Aaron Antoine both took second in the men's high jump in the A and B sections, respectively, with a height of 2.05m/6-8.75.
 
After competing in the Mt. SAC Relays, junior Emma Robbins now sits in eighth place in the NCAA women's hammer throw after her mark of 67.03m/219-11.
