Big 12 Runner Up for Robbins and McCall in Hammer Throw

Day 2 begins at 10 a.m. tomorrow resuming the combined events
NORMAN, Okla. – Juniors Emma Robbins and Kade McCall highlighted K-State's day one performances at the Big 12 Championships on Friday (May 12) in Norman, Okla., at the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex.
Robbins finished second in the women's hammer throw with a season-best distance of 67.09m/220-1, while McCall broke his own school record for the second time this season with a second-place finish in the men's hammer throw at 68.97m/226-3.
Five other Wildcats landed on the podium after Robbins and McCall, including sophomore Monique Hardy in the women's hammer, junior Baylee Unruh and freshman Saydee Tanking in the women's javelin and juniors Joe Placek and Gabriel Louw in the men's javelin.
Hardy took fourth place with a throw of 60.79m/199-5 in the hammer, while Unruh and Tanking each recorded new personal bests to finish in sixth and eighth, respectively, in the javelin. Placek took fourth place in men's javelin with a throw of 62.12m/203-9 and Louw finished eighth with a throw of 54.96m/180-3, a new personal best and just his second attempt collegiately.
In the combined events, sophomore Emil Uhlin ended the day in the men's decathlon in fifth place with 3,932 points after five events. In the women's heptathlon junior Urte Bacianskaite sits in second place with 3,439 points, while junior Maddie Righter has 3,107 points in seventh place. Sophomore Madelyn McCabe is in 12th with 3,070 points and freshman Delaney Wright at 2,519 points in 15th place.
In the decathlon, Uhlin won the men's high jump with a height of 2.02m/6-7.50, his second-best finish of the day in the 400-meter dash in third place in a new personal-best 49.22 seconds.
Bacianskaite's top two performances in the heptathlon were new personal bests, as she won the shot put with a throw of 15.02m/49-3.50 and placed third in the 200-meter dash in 25.99 seconds.
Also in the heptathlon, Righter saw sixth place in the shot put at 11.83m/38-9.75 and cleared a height of 1.64m/5-4.50 for eighth place in the high jump. McCabe finished highest for the Wildcats in the high jump with a fifth-place height of 1.70m/5-7, also taking fifth in the shot put with a throw of 11.91m/39-1. Wright competed best on the track, running a new personal best in the 200-meter dash in 25.51 seconds for seventh place and cleared the 100-meter hurdles in 14.88 seconds for 13th place.
Distance runners junior Cailan Steward and senior Kerby Depenbusch started the day bright and early in the 10,000 meters. Steward ran in the event for the first time with a time of 37:50.28 in 15th place and Depenbusch finished 12th in 31:55.09.
The combined events will conclude tomorrow starting at 10 a.m., CT with the decathlon 110-meter hurdles. The field events start with the men's high jump at 3 p.m., and on the track at 4 p.m. with the preliminary women's 1,500 meters. All events will be streamed on ESPN+.
