MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field team will kick off the new year with the annual KU-KSU-WSU Triangular on Friday (Jan. 12) at Anschutz Pavilion in Lawrence, Kan., hosted by Kansas.

Four field events will start the day off at 11 a.m. CT, with the first track event—the women's mile—beginning at 1:20 p.m. CT.

Men's and women's teams from K-State, Kansas and Wichita State compete in 31 events with points awarded to the subsequent highest finishers, the school with the most points in the end named the winner. Last season the Jayhawks finished first with 268 points, the Wildcats in second with 204 points and the Shockers with 198 points.

During last season's Triangular, hosted by Wichita State, senior Shalysa Wray broke two records while earning the High Point Award with 15.75 points.

At the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility in Topeka, Kan., Wray broke the 60 meter dash facility record in a personal best 7.38 seconds, faster than the previous 7.42 seconds. She also broke a meet record in the 200 meter dash in 23.85 seconds, previously set at 23.95 by K-State's A'Keyla Mitchell in 2016. Wray also competed in K-State's 4x400 mixed relay, breaking a meet record with a time of 3:26.48, which was previously held by Kansas in 2018 at 3:27.42.

Senior Kyle Gale broke a meet record of his own that day—the 600 yard run—with a personal best time of 1:08.59, previously set at 1:09.71 by K-State's Joseph Lee in 2003.

The Wildcats started the 2023-24 season in the Bob Timmons Challenge on December 2 in Lawrence. During the meet the team claimed victories in both the men's and women's high jump. Junior Marcus Gelpi recorded a new personal best height of 2.18m/7-1.75, sophomore transfer Sharie Enoe clearing a height of 1.83m/6-0.
