K-State Travels to Lubbock for Texas Tech Corky Classic

Field events on Friday begin at 5 p.m. CT
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams travel South for the two-day Texas Tech Corky Classic starting Friday afternoon (Jan. 19) at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Three field events will kick off the meet on Friday at 5 p.m. CT—the men's and women's weight throw, men's pole vault and men's and women's high jump.

The meet will resume Saturday morning on the track at 10:40 a.m. with the women's 1000 meters, and at 11:30 a.m. for the start of women's pole vault.

In the last meet at the annual KU-KSU-WSU Triangular hosted by Kansas on Jan. 12, junior Monique Hardy broke the K-State weight throw school record, as well as the meet record, with the farthest throw in the Big 12 Conference so far this season. Her personal best throw of 22.13m/72-7.25 surpassed Janee' Kassanavoid's previous school record of 21.81m/71-6.75 in 2017.

Sophomore Sharie Enoe also entered the K-State all-time top 10 in the women's high jump at no. 5 with a winning jump of 1.88m/6-2, almost two inches better than her previous best. Senior Kade McCall had a new personal best of his own in the weight throw, finishing first with 21.34m/70-0.25, climbing to no. 3 in the men's all-time records.
