Overall thoughts…
"We've been playing better volleyball over the last couple of weeks. I think those three five-set wins gave us confidence. We played well at KU, and tonight was the same—just stretches of really clean, aggressive volleyball. We need to do that more often. We were up in the third and had a chance to go up 2-1, but we need to close out those sets. They're a good team. I told the girls I'm bummed we don't get to play them again because I feel like we can beat them when we play our best."
On Aliyah Carter's record-breaking performance…
"I'm obviously really proud of Aliyah. With Liz [Gregorski] out, I expected that from her. She's a leader and a competitor, and I knew she would step up because she knows she needs to. It was a special performance for her—27 kills and hitting .362. She hasn't had a match like that all year. I'm really proud of her, and I know she can do this every match. I'm excited she finally broke through, and hopefully, we'll see it again."
On Izzi Szulczewski's career achievement…
"That's a crazy number—3,000 assists. She's such a special player and does a great job of running our offense and putting our hitters in good situations. She's really stepped up in the last couple of matches. Izzi is a special and talented player who certainly makes us better."
On preparation for Iowa State…
"Both teams have dealt with a lot of adversity with injuries. I know they're going through that too, but they're well-coached with a lot of talent. They're still figuring out their lineup, just like we are, but they're going to battle and play hard. They played Kansas tough and even took a set off them at KU, so we've got to be ready. It's a quick turnaround, and we need to figure out how to be a bit better on the road."
