K-State to Send Four Wildcats to SMU Invitational

Wildcats will compete at SMU in the fall for the first time since 2021
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team will send four women to compete at the SMU Invitational starting on Friday (Oct. 4) at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex in Dallas, Texas.
Sophomore Maralgoo Chogsomjav, juniors Maria Santos and Sana Garakani and senior Veronika Kulhava will all compete in their second tournament of the fall.
K-State last competed at SMU in the fall during the 2021-22 season in the Red and Blue Challenge. Other teams competing this weekend include Houston, Kansas, Oklahoma and UT Arlington.
The Wildcats started the season by hosting the K-State Invitational on Sept. 20-22 where all four women collected multiple singles and doubles wins.
Chogsomjav and Garakani both went 2-1 in singles and doubles play, each earning a three set victory over South Florida. Santos also claimed two singles wins in straight sets.
Kulhava was a perfect 3-0 in doubles competition, including in a tiebreaker set with partner Chogsomjav over Wichita State's Giorgia Roselli and Theodora Chantva, 7-6 (7-5).
Two Wildcats, sophomore Charlotte Keitel and Tereza Polakova, competed that same weekend at the ITA All-American Championship in Cary, N.C., on Sept. 21-22.
Both women earned a win in singles competition-- Keitel in the pre-qualifying first round, 6-4, 6-2 over USC's Parker Fry, and Polakova in the consolation bracket against Georgia Tech's Alejandra Cruz, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 6-2.
