Wildcats Compete in Multi Events on Day One at New Indoor Complex

The heptathlon will start off at 11 a.m. the rest of the meet at 3 p.m.
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams competed on Thursday (Feb. 1) in the Austra Skujyte Women's Pentathlon/Steve Fritz Men's Heptathlon, the first day of the inaugural meet in the new K-State Indoor Track & Field Complex.
K-State had four athletes competing in the multi events—sophomore Emil Uhlin in the men's heptathlon and three women in the pentathlon, sophomore Delaney Wright and seniors Urte Bacianskaite and Maddie Righter.
Bacianskaite finished runner-up with a new personal best score of 4,094 points, cracking the K-State all-time top-10. Her score was 66 points better than her previous at last year's indoor Big 12 Championship at 4,028 points.
Wright competed in her first collegiate pentathlon, finishing 7th with 3,266 points. Righter was not far behind in 8th place with 3,207 points.
Bacianskaite won the shot put with a new personal best throw of 15.45m/50-8.25. She also finished top-three in the long jump with a distance of 5.72m/18-9/25. During the 60 meter hurdles she finished 4th in 8.80 seconds, one-tenth of a second from tying her personal best from the last meet at the Corky Classic.
Wright ran her new fastest time in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.86 seconds in 5th place. Also on the track, she finished 2nd in the 800 meters with a time of 2:20.22, less than one-tenth of a second behind first place. During the long jump she went a distance of 5.45m/17-10.75 in 7th place.
Righter led the way in the high jump with a runner-up height of 1.68m/5-6. She also finished top-three in the shot put with a third place throw of 11.67m/38-3.50. On the track she ran the 60 meter hurdles in 9.40 seconds placing 8th.
Uhlin competed in the first four events of the heptathlon, ending the day in second place with 3,032 points. He sits 161 points behind Miami's Edgar Campre in 1st place with 3,193 points.
Uhlin ran his fastest 60 meter dash in 7.21 seconds and finished runner-up in both the shot put (13.20m/43-3.75) and high jump (1.99m/6-6.25). In the long jump he landed in 4th place at 6.73m/22-1.
The three remaining men's heptathlon events will begin Friday (Feb. 2) at 11 a.m. CT with the 60 meter hurdles, followed by the pole vault and 1000 meters.
The DeLoss Dodds Invitational will commence at 3 p.m. CT with three field events, the track events starting at 4 p.m. CT with the women's preliminary 60 meter hurdles.
