McCall Sets New School Record, Wildcats Record New Personal Bests

K-State wrapped up the indoor regular season competing at home
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams competed on Friday (Feb. 16) in the Steve Miller Invitational, the last indoor regular season meet, highlighted by a new men's weight throw school record, at the K-State Indoor Track and Field Complex.
Senior Kade McCall broke his own weight throw record by an inch with a winning distance of 21.75m/71-4.25. Freshman Riley Marx was the other competitor with a personal best of his own at 15.69m/51-5.75 in 2nd place.
Junior Monique Hardy competed in the women's event, winning her sixth straight weight throw event, setting a new facility record with a distance of 21.66m/71-1.
Another facility and meet record came from senior Shalysa Wray in the 300 meter dash in 39.08 seconds.
Two Wildcats saw significant personal bests in the high jump—junior Bryce Collins in the men's and junior Madelyn McCabe in the women's. Junior Marcus Gelpi and Collins both cleared a height of 2.10m/6-10.75, claiming 1st and 2nd place, respectively. It was Collins' best height since 2021 when he competed for Saint Francis.
McCabe finished runner-up, recording a new personal best of 1.75m/5-9, also her new best since 2021 when she competed for Southeast Louisiana. Sophomore Sharie Enoe took first place with a height of 1.80m/5-10.75. Sophomore Lindsey DeWitt and senior Maddie Righter both cleared 1.65m/5-5 in 3rd and 4th place, respectively.
Sophomore Nate Collier (2nd; 16.55m/54-3.75) recorded a consecutive shot put personal best, junior Emil Uhlin (4th; 13.66m/44-9.75) also tossing his furthest by over a foot. Senior Jasmine Greer (3rd; 14.87m/48-9.50) was the only Wildcat to compete in the women's event.
All six Wildcats in the mile ran their new fastest times—in the women's, sophomore Grace Meyer (1st; 4:58.83) with the win, sophomore Cecilia Fisher (2nd; 4:59.38) not far behind and seniors Cailan Steward (3rd; 5:04.59) and Helen Giefer (4th; 5:28.20), in Giefer's first attempt. For the men's race, junior Tommy Hazen (2nd; 4:09.64) claimed runner-up along with senior Kerby Depenbusch (4th; 4:20.54).
More 'Cats finished top-5 on the track— freshman Tavon Underwood (2nd; 47.84) in the men's 400 meter dash, sophomore Delaney Wright (2nd; 1:26.67) in the women's 600 yards and sophomore Katie Schwartzkopf (4th; 10:37.40) with a personal best in the women's 1,000 meters. In the men's 200 meter dash, senior Tim Lambert (6th; 21.66) finished just 0.03 seconds behind the 5th place finisher.
Freshman Isaac Ativie (2nd; 7.01m/23-0) was the only K-State long jumper, with his farthest jump by 9 inches.
K-State will head into the postseason next week with the Big 12 Championship on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 23-24) in Lubbock, Texas at the Sports Performance Center.
