K-State to Compete in Big 12 Indoor Championship in Lubbock

Friday will start with the combined events at 10 a.m., Saturday starts at 11 a.m.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The K-State track and field teams will compete in the two-day Big 12 Championship on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 23-24) at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Texas.

The combined events will start off Friday morning at 10 a.m. CT with the women's pentathlon 60 meter hurdles. Field events will kick off at 3 p.m. with the women's weight throw and pole vault, track events at 3:10 p.m. with the women's preliminary mile. The days events will be live streamed on ESPN+.

The Championship was hosted by the Red Raiders last year as well, K-State's men and women both finishing 8th, the men with 29 points, the women with 38.

Three school record holders sit in the Big 12 top-10 rankings, looking for a spot on the podium. Junior Monique Hardy leads the women in the weight throw at 22.13m/72-7.25, senior Kade McCall in the men's weight throw at 21.75m/71-4.25 at no. 4, and the men's 4x400 relay team made up of seniors Eugene Omalla, Kyle Gale, Jaimie Omalla and freshman Tavon Underwood, at no. 2, behind only Texas, at 3:04.84.

Other notable 'Cats are featured in both the men's and women's conference rankings. For the women, sophomore Sharie Enoe is at no. 3 in the women's high jump with a season's best height of 1.88m/6-2, junior Shalom Olotu is tied at no. 7 in the long jump with a distance of 6.20m/20-4.25 and senior Urte Bacianskaite is in the women's pentathlon at no. 4 with 4,094 points.

For the men, Gale has another top spot in the 400 meter dash at no. 5 in 46.15 seconds. Sophomore Aaron Antoine is no. 5 in the high jump with his height of 2.19m/7-2.25. Junior Emil Uhlin is no. 4 in the heptathlon with 5,595 points.

In the last meet of the regular season, the Steve Miller Invitational, multiple Wildcats set new personal bests, including high jump juniors Madelyn McCabe and Bryce Collins. McCabe cleared a height of 1.75m/5-9, Collins over 2.10m/6-10.75, both new bests since competing in 2021.
