Tennis to Host Baylor Bears, TCU Horned Frogs

MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team will host two more Big 12 opponents this weekend at Mike Goss Tennis Stadium-- Baylor on Friday (March 15) and TCU on Sunday (March 17).

K-State (7-5, 1-3 Big 12) will face the #26 Baylor Bears (11-5, 4-0 Big 12) at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.

The Wildcats then compete in a matchup against the #65 TCU Horned Frogs (7-3, 3-1 Big 12) at 12 p.m. on Sunday.

The Cats are 1-5 in the last six meetings with the Bears, last victorious in Manhattan in 2018. Baylor has one ranked player in singles, senior Miska Kadleckova at #101 with a 7-1 record.

Against the Horned Frogs, K-State is 2-4 in the last six matches, previously victorious during the Big 12 Championship in 2022. TCU also has one ranked singles player, senior Destinee Martins at #112 with a 11-8 record.

In the first two road matches of the conference schedule, the Wildcats lost both matches to ranked BYU, 4-1, and Texas Tech, 5-2. Competing to three sets in both matches, freshman Charlotte Keitel was the only point for K-State against the Cougars, defeating Jacque Dunyon 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, also victorious while facing the Red Raiders' Kate Dmitrichenko in two tiebreakers, 6-7 (3-7), 6-1, 1-0 (10-3).

Sophomores Maria Santos and Vanesa Suarez competed for the first time as a pair in doubles matches, Santos in her first doubles competition this spring, victorious over Tech's Jermine Sherif and Andreea Lila 6-1.
