TRINITY, Texas – The Kansas State men's golf team carded a 13-over par 301 on Wednesday during the final round of the 2024 Big 12 Championship as the Wildcats finished in 11th place with a 72-hole score of 24-over par 1,176 at the par-72, 7,434-yard Whispering Pines Golf Club.
"It was a tough day today," head coach Grant Robbins said. "It was a battle for us all week, and we did a pretty good job for three rounds, but today we looked tired and made some costly mental mistakes that we didn't recover from. I am proud of our players' effort. They really wanted to play well this week and earn a spot in the postseason. We just have to learn from it and get better."
Junior JP Roller put together the round of the day for the Wildcats at even-par 72, as he rose one spot into a tie for 24th at 3-over par 291. A native of Jenks, Oklahoma, Roller registered two birdies and two bogeys on the day. Another junior, Cooper Schultz, tied with Roller for 24th place after a final-round score of 5-over par 77.
Junior Nicklaus Mason finished at 12-over par 300 and in a tie for 46th place, one shot ahead of sophomore Alex Lindstrom, who tied for 50th place. Lindstrom, a product of Halmstad, Sweden, had his best round of the event on Wednesday at 1-over par 73.
Senior Luke O'Neill finished in a tie for 58th place at 18-over par 306.
Texas won the Big 12 Championship at 25-under par 1,127. A trio of players – TCU's Gustav Frimodt, Oklahoma State's Preston Stout and Cincinnati's Ty Gingerich tied atop the individual leaderboard at 9-under par 279.
Kansas State will now turn its attention to the 2024 NCAA Selection Show, which is held next Wednesday at 1 p.m., on Golf Channel.
