Schultz Ready for Postseason Action

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State junior men's golfer Cooper Schultz is set for his second-straight NCAA Regional appearance next week as he tees off the 2024 NCAA Austin Regional, Monday through Wednesday, at the par-71, 7,399-yard UT Golf Club in Austin, Texas.
Schultz, the No. 4 individual in the regional, will begin play on Monday with his first round set to tee off at 9:31 a.m., off the first tee, while the second round will be on Tuesday and final-round action is set for Wednesday. Schultz is vying to be the low individual on a non-advancing team to move on to the NCAA Championship, which will be held May 24-29, at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California.
"We are excited to watch Cooper compete at NCAA Regionals this week," head coach Grant Robbins said. "I think the UT Golf Club sets up really well for him. It's fairly long and difficult off the tee, and Cooper is an excellent driver of the ball, which is definitely an advantage for him there. It will be a matter of staying patient, taking advantage of birdie opportunities when he can, which will hopefully put himself in position to advance."
This is the second-straight year Schultz will compete in the postseason after the Wildcats advanced as a team last year, narrowly missing out on a trip to the NCAA Championship. In last season's NCAA Bath (Mich.) Regional, Schultz tied for 43rd place with a 54-hole score of 5-over par 218.
This marks the sixth-straight time K-State will be represented in the postseason dating back to 2018 (the 2020 postseason was canceled due to COVID-19), the longest streak in school history. It is the 15th time ever a Wildcat will compete in NCAA Regionals as an individual.
A product of Andover, Kansas, Schultz has a team-leading 71.03 scoring average, which currently ranks third in school history. He has produced four top-10 finishes in his 10 stroke play starts this season, which includes a pair of top-five showings.
Over his 88 career rounds, Schultz owns a 71.80 scoring average, which would be the school record if he had two more rounds to qualify.
