Cats Improve Three Spots to Place Eighth at Tiger Intercollegiate

COLUMBIA, Mo. – After recording one of only five final rounds of even par or better on Tuesday, the Kansas State men's golf team improved three spots to finish in eighth place at the Tiger Intercollegiate, held at the par-71, 7,201-yard Club at Old Hawthorne.
The Wildcats recorded an even-under par 284 in the final round to finish with a 54-hole score of 8-over par 860. In the process, K-State picked up wins over No. 36 Chattanooga and No. 51 South Carolina.
K-State's scoring lineup was led during the final round by senior Luke O'Neill, who recorded a 2-under par 69, an 11-shot improvement from his second-round score and his first round in the 60s since the spring-opening Hal Williams Collegiate. A native of Connemara, Ireland, O'Neill improved 24 spots on the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 63rd place at 8-over par 221.
Another red number was put up by junior JP Roller, who posted a 1-under par 70 during the final round. He finished in a tie for 48th place – an 18-spot improvement from his 36-hole standing – at 5-over par 218.
The Wildcats were paced during the tournament by sophomore Alex Lindstrom, who tied for 27th place at 1-over par 214 after putting together a second-consecutive round of 1-over par 72 on Tuesday. Juniors Cooper Schultz and Nicklaus Mason tied for 42nd and 48th, respectively. Schultz, who went 2-over par 73 in the final round, finished with a 54-hole score of 4-over par 217, while Mason carded a 3-over par 74 on Tuesday to tie with Roller at 5-over par 218.
K-State's round of the day was put together by junior Ian McCrary, who was competing as an individual. The Overland Park, Kansas, native went 4-under par 67, tied for his best round of the year and the third-best final round of anyone in the field. McCrary improved 36 spots on the leaderboard to a tie for 59th place at 7-over par 220.
Iowa State carded a 7-under par 277 on Tuesday to come from behind and earn the victory at 11-under par 841. Missouri's Jack Lundin picked up a two-shot victory over Stetson's Dominic Clemons thanks to a 5-under par 66 final round, as the homesteading Tiger tallied a 54-hole score of 13-under par 200.
Kansas State is back in action next Monday and Tuesday as the Wildcats compete in the Mossy Oak Collegiate, held at Mossy Oak Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi.
