K-State Will Wrap Up Regular Season with Shocker Open

The Wildcats will compete in Wichita one last time ahead of the postseason
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams will wrap up the regular season with the Shocker Open on Friday (May 3) at Cessna Stadium in Wichita, Kan. Admission is free and open to the public.

The field events are set to begin at 1:00 p.m. with the women's hammer throw. At 5:10 p.m., the men's 4x100 relay will start on the track.

Wildcats are set to compete in events such as the pole vault and high jump at 3:30 p.m., and both sprints and middle distance events starting around 6:05 p.m.

Last Friday (April 26) the Wildcats hosted the Ward Haylett Invitational where nine Wildcats finished in first place. Sophomore Tamaiah Koonce won her first women's discus event, throwing a new personal best of 56.14m/184-2, bumping her up to no. 4 in the K-State all-time top-10.

Two more Wildcats jumped up in the K-State records-- senior Andrew White won the men's discus, also with a new personal best at 58.27m/191-2, which is no. 3 in the men's top-10. Also in the discus, sophomore Nate Collier claimed runner-up at 58.05m/190-5, landing him at no. 5 in the K-State records.

Following competition on Friday, K-State will start the postseason with the Big 12 Championship on May 9-11 in Waco, Texas at Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium.
