K-State Track Named USTFCCCA All-Academic, 18 All-Academic Athletes

This is the ninth straight year both teams qualified for All-Academic
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State men's and women's track and field teams were named All-Academic Teams on Tuesday (July 16), along with 18 All-Academic Athletes, by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

In order to qualify for All-Academic, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale. K-State's men's team had a GPA of 3.24, the women's team with a 3.52 GPA under former Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Cliff Rovelto. This is the ninth straight year both teams have qualified.

Ten other Big 12 schools had both their men's and women's teams named All-Academic—Baylor, BYU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas and Texas Tech. BYU's men had the highest GPA at 3.37, while West Virginia's women led with a GPA of 3.67.

A total of 12 Wildcats were named All-Academic Athletes, including six men-- Tommy Hazen, Riley Marx, Kade McCall, Joe Placek, Emil Uhlin and Andrew White—and 12 women-- Urte Bacianskaite, Claire Bybee, Jourdin Edwards, Cecilia Fisher, Jasmine Greer, Briana Lowe, Madelyn McCabe, Daisy Monie, Emma Robbins, Jaycee Schroeder, Hannah Stewart and Grace Thompson.

Requirements for All-Academic athletes include a minimum GPA of 3.25 on a 4.00 scale, must have competed in at least two semesters and finished the indoor season ranked in the top-96 in their event or participated in any round of the NCAA outdoor Championship.

223 Big 12 student-athletes were named All-Academic, with BYU men having the most at 15 and Kansas, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech women tied for the most at 16 each.

Arkansas' women were named both the indoor and outdoor National Scholar Team of the Year, while Texas Tech and Florida's men were crowned the indoor and outdoor National Scholar Teams, respectively.
