Racing will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State women's rowing team continues the spring season on Sunday (April 13) with the annual Creighton Duel in Omaha, Neb., at Carter Lake. Racing is set to begin at 9 a.m.
Â
"The team has done a good job staying focused as we prepare for this weekend," head coach Patrick Sweeney said. "We haven't had as much water time as we would prefer back home, but our athletes are doing what they can to keep improving."
Â
Last year, the Wildcats completed a clean sweep against the Bluejays, winning all five races at the Creighton Duel.
Â
"We're looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish this weekend. Each race is a chance to apply what we have been working on in training," Sweeney said. "At this point in the season, we're still finding more speed in every boat."
Â
Most recently, K-State competed in the Sarasota 2k on March 28-29, where the 1v4+ claimed a bronze medal racing against multiple fellow Big 12 competitors.
Â
The Cats also raced in Hornet Invitational on March 14-15, winning six races throughout the weekend. Coming off a dominant weekend, the 1v4+ also earned the first 2025 Big 12 Boat of the Week honors of the season following three wins in California.
Â
The team opened the season competing in Oklahoma City against UCO and Tulsa, winning five races across two sessions.
Â
"We're fit and we're strong. Our goal is put that to work, with an emphasis on our technique," Sweeney said.
