K-State Prepares for Competition in 115th Annual Drake Relays

Schedule starts with the multi events on Wednesday for senior Emil Uhlin

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams start the week early with four days of competition in the Drake Relays starting on Wednesday (April 23) through Saturday (April 26) in Des Moines, Iowa, at Drake Stadium.
 
Starting on Thursday, the meet can be streamed on RunnerSpace with a subscription. Single session tickets beginning with Thursday start at $18
 
The Wildcats will have one athlete compete in the combined events, senior Emil Uhlin in the men's decathlon, starting on Wednesday. The first day of five events begins at 11:30 a.m. with the 100 meter dash.
 
The Cats will run in the distance carnival on Thursday starting at 4:30 p.m. CT. The rest of the team will participate in field and sprints events on Friday and Saturday.
 
K-State competed last in the Oregon Open and Oregon Team Invitational on April 18-19 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Five Wildcats won their events over the weekend, senior Jaycee Schroeder, junior Sharie Enoe and freshman Selva Prabhu in the field events and junior Jourdin Edwards and freshman Ariana Jackson as sprinters.
 
This will be a return to the Blue Oval at Drake Stadium for head coach Travis Geopfert, the 2004 and 2006 decathlon champion, assistant coach Mat Clark, the 2009 and 2011 decathlon champion and assistant coach Kip Janvrin, who was inducted to the Drake Relays Hall of Fame in 1996 and owns the record for the most Drake Relays decathlon wins at 17.
 
This is the Wildcats' first time competing in the Drake Relays since the 2021-22 season when a small group competed.
