"We're looking forward to racing this weekend. The team has done a good job staying focused all year and working hard," head coach Patrick Sweeney said. "With all of the work we have done the last couple of weeks, we've gotten faster. The team is making the most of some good water time. These races are what we've been working toward all season.

"We're excited to see what we can accomplish this weekend."

The racing schedule is as follows, listed in Central Time:

The Wildcats finished the regular season in the Sunflower Showdown against in-state rival Kansas winning two races with the 1v4+ and 3v8+.

Prior to that, K-State raced in the SIRA Championship on April 18-19, earning four medals with silver for the 1v8+ and 2v8+, a bronze for the 1v4+, and gold for the 3v8+.

K-State was also named Big 12 Boat of the Week three times this season. The first award of the season on March 19 for the 1v4+ after three dominant wins at the Hornet Invitational, on April 16 with the 3v8+ after defeating Creighton and in consecutive weeks on April 24, the 2v8+ after a silver medal performance at SIRA.

Prior to competing at SIRAs, K-State defeated the Bluejays in four races on April 13. In the Sarasota 2k on March 28-29, the 1v4+ earned a bronze medal competing against all Big 12 competitors.

To start the spring the team won five races against Central Oklahoma and Tulsa on March 8 and they collected six wins in the Hornet Invite on March 14-15.

"Every boat is ready. We're really just trying to enjoy the last race of the season," Sweeney said. "We have one more opportunity to go flat out and see what we are capable of. The team has done the work, this is the fun part."
