SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – K-State's winning streak came to an end Thursday night, as the Wildcats suffered their first setback of the season in a straight-set loss, 25-16, 25-23, 25-16, to UC Santa Barbara at the Thunderdome Classic.
Redshirt sophomore Eva Travis powered the Gauchos (4-2) with 18 kills, helping UCSB open its home slate at The Thunderdome in the win column while handing the Wildcats (4-1) their first defeat. Shaylee Myers paced the K-State offense with 15 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, while the Wildcats held the edge at the net with a 9.0–7.0 blocking advantage.

Overall comments…
"Congrats to UCSB, we knew they were a good team when we scouted them, but they were exceptional in all areas tonight. It starts with serving and passing, and they did those two things much better than us tonight. When they pass that well their offense is really hard to stop but I'm proud of our response after the first set and we gave ourselves a chance in the second at 23-23 but needed to make a couple more plays. Shaylee was a huge bright spot, especially offensively for us. She continues to play at such a high level and to score against that defense was tough and she battled the whole match and hit the shots she needed to. We have a short turnaround against a really good Northern Colorado team tomorrow night, it'll be a great test for us."
