
Wildcats Compete in Lone Road Meet at Tyson Invitational

The two-day meet also features World Athletics sanctioned events
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams hit the road just once during the regular season, for the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday-Saturday (February 14-15) at the Randal Tyson Track Center. Tickets start at $16 or the meet can be streamed both days on SEC Network+.
Friday's competition starts at 12 p.m., on the track with the men's 60-meter hurdles prelims, with the men's pole vault beginning at 1 p.m. On Saturday, field events start at 10:30 a.m., with the women's pole vault and on the track at 11 a.m., with the men's 5,000 meters.
Friday also serves as part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver with Championship races in three track events (60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles and 400 meters) and three field events (men's and women's long jump, men's high jump and women's triple jump).
Four Wildcats will compete in the World Athletics Silver field events, sophomore Uroy Ryan in the men's long jump, junior Maud Zeffou-Poaty in the women's long jump, senior Devin Loudermilk in the men's high jump and junior Aaron Antoine in the men's triple jump.
In the USTFCCCA week three rankings from February 10, the men stay atop the NCAA at #1 with 138.77 points, followed by #2 Tennessee (129.51) and #3 Oregon (117.61). The women moved up one spot to #14 with 57.45 points.
On February 4, junior Tah Chikomba was named the Big 12 Men's Athlete of the Week, the first Wildcat to earn the honor since February 2020. With his season's best performance of 8.09m (26' 6.5"), Chikomba is currently no. 2 in the NCAA men's long jump, the best in the Big 12, also the no. 7 best performance in the world according to World Athletics.
The Wildcats last competed in the DeLoss Dodds Invitational at home on January 30-31. K-State hosted its own World Athletics sanctioned Bronze events at Cliff Rovelto Indoor Track with highlights from multiple men's and women's jumpers.
In the women's pentathlon senior Vanessa Mercera won with 4,429 points, still leading the NCAA with that performance, while junior Vienna Lahner broke the women's mile school record, now 4:38.84, surpassing Deb Pihl's (Torneden) record from 1983 at 4:39.06.
