Cats Look to Ride Momentum into Mississippi
Apr 10, 2026 | Men's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Coming off a runner-up finish last time out, the Kansas State men's golf team looks to continue its solid play when the Wildcats compete in the Mossy Oak Collegiate, Monday and Tuesday, at the par-72, 7,212-yard Mossy Oak Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi.
This will be the sixth-straight year the Wildcats will compete in West Point with their best finish being a fifth-place showing in 2022. K-State will be in search of its sixth top-five finish this season – which would tie for fifth in school history – and its second-straight after placing second in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate at the end of March.
"We are excited to get back to Mossy Oak," said head coach Grant Robbins. "It is a unique layout that definitely demands precision all the way around. It is also a long course with some room off the tee, and hitting the correct sections of the greens will be very important. This event features a really strong field, which presents a great opportunity for us to go head-to-head with some of the best teams in the country. I know the guys are looking forward to the challenge."
Three top-20 squads highlight the 19-team field in No. 10 Vanderbilt, No. 15 Mississippi and No. 17 Alabama. The rest of the field includes Cincinnati, Coastal Carolina, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, host-school Mississippi State, New Mexico State, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, ULM and UTEP.
The Wildcats will send six members of the squad to compete in the Mossy Oak Collegiate in seniors Shea Harmeson, Alex Lindstrom and JP Roller, sophomore Fionn Dobbin and freshmen Oliver Toyer and Ville Virkkala. Five of those will comprise the scoring lineup, while the other will compete as an individual.
Lindstrom, a native of Halmstad, Sweden, leads the team with a 72.20 scoring average with Harmeson (72.57) and Virkkala (72.80) also making up the three Wildcats with sub-73.00 averages this season. All three players have four top-20 finishes as all of Harmeson's have been top-10 showings, while Lindstrom has three and Virkkala has two. All three players registered a top-10 finish last time out at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate with Harmeson leading the way in second place, Virkkala tying for third place and Lindstrom tying for eighth place.
Roller is coming off a career-best 54-hole score of 5-under par 208 in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate when he tied for third place. His outing in Mobile included first- and third-round scores of 3-under par 68 to tie a career best.
A native of Lisburn, Northern Ireland, Dobbin is coming off consecutive top-20 finishes as he tied for eighth place in the Michael A. Marino Classic before a tie for 18th place in Mobile. His three-round total of 5-under par 211 in the former event tied a career-low 54-hole score before carding an even-par 213 in Mobile.
Toyer tied with Dobbin for 18th place in Mobile as he recorded his first 54-hole score at or under par since the fall.
A shotgun start to the first two rounds of the Mossy Oak Collegiate begins at 8 a.m., on Monday, while Tuesday's final round will carry tee times of holes No. 1 and 10 beginning at 8 a.m. Live results can be followed on SCOREBOARD powered by Clippd.
