Wildcats Finish Seventh at Schooner Fall Classic

NORMAN, Okla. – The Kansas State women's golf team put together a second-consecutive day of under-par golf during Monday's final round, securing a seventh-place finish in the Schooner Fall Classic held at the par-70, 6,182-yard Belmar Golf Club.

K-State recorded a final-round tally of 1-under par 279, finishing with a 54-hole score of 4-under par 836. The Wildcats were one of seven squads in the 16-team field to conclude the event under par, and they finished seven shots clear of eighth-place UCF while finishing just two shots behind Big 12 foe Oklahoma State to sixth place.

"Today was an important round for us," head coach Stew Burke said. "Our goal for the day was to shoot under par and keep the pressure on the teams ahead of us. This is a really good field, and I'm proud of the ladies for sticking to the game plan and making the appropriate adjustments at the right times. We had two freshmen in the lineup still gaining valuable experience, and we got the bounce back we needed this week to get the season back on track."

Kansas State was led during the event by sophomore Stalee Fields, who tied for 14th place at 4-under par 206 after a final-round score of even-par 70. Fields, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, tied for the seventh-lowest 54-hole score in school history and bettered her previous career low of 211 in last year's Schooner Fall Classic. She tied for first in the 93-player field in par-5 scoring (-5), while she tied for fifth with 13 total birdies.

Finishing one shot back and in a tie for 18th place was junior Nanami Nakashima at 3-under par 207. Nakashima, a native of Kani, Japan, rose 25 spots during the final round thanks to the lowest collegiate round of her career, a 5-under par 65 to tie for the fourth-lowest round in program history. Her 54-hole score of 207 tied the career low she put together at the 2025 edition of the Schooner Fall Classic.

"Stalee and Nanami had a good week, so there's plenty to be positive about moving into our next event," Burke said.

Junior Kelsey Chen could not keep the momentum of a 4-under par second round going over the final 18 holes, going 4-over par in the final round to finish in a tie for 28th place at even-par 210.

Freshman Amy Wang tied for 53rd place at 6-over par 216 after a final-round score of 3-over par 73, while fellow freshman, Mia Ingham, tied for 62nd place at 9-over par 219. Ingham produced her best round of the event on Monday with a score of 1-over par 71.

Playing as an individual, sophomore Keen Visavapattamawan tied for 33rd place at 1-over par 211 following a round of 2-over par 72 on Monday. Visavapattamawan tied for fourth in the field by going a collective 4-under par on the par 5s.

"We are far from where I see this group come springtime, but Coach Rinko Mitsunaga and I are confident in this group and their ability," Burke said.

Iowa State won the Schooner Fall Classic going away with a 54-hole score of 30-under par 810, setting a tournament record and defeating the second-place squad, Oklahoma, on their home course by 17 shots. Iowa State's Alexandra Vidal Rivera won the individual title at 10-under par 200, tying the event's scoring record since it moved to a par-70 format in 2019.

K-State looks to defend its home turf next Monday and Tuesday, as the Wildcats host the Powercat Classic at Colbert Hills Golf Course.
