• 2015 First Team Academic All-Big 12
CAREER: A former community-college transfer who played in all 26 career games with starts at right guard over his final 25 games... Helped K-State earn a 15-11 record and two bowl berths during his two-year career.
2015: Started all 13 games at right guard... Helped K-State rank second nationally in red zone offense (94.5-percent) and 18th in passing yards per completion (14.12)... Also helped the Wildcats rush for 29 touchdowns, which was just one shy of entering the school’s top-10 list... Blocked for six rushing touchdowns against TCU, which was tied for the fourth most in school history... Earned First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors... Voted a player representative for the 2015 season.
2014: Played in all 13 games, making starts in each of the final 12 contests at right guard... Helped K-State tally 30 rushing touchdowns – the 10th most in school history – while the Wildcat offense finished in the top 25 nationally in nine categories, including top-20 marks in team passing efficiency (11th), red zone offense (14th) and passing offense (16th).
COMMUNITY COLLEGE: Played two seasons at Butler under head coach Troy Morrell... Helped the Grizzlies finish sixth nationally in 2013 with a 9-2 record, while BCC finished second in 2012 with an 11-1 mark... Earned 2013 Second Team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-America honors while also being named a First Team All-Jayhawk Conference performer... Rated No. 14 nationally among community-college offensive tackles by ESPN... Played with current Wildcat offensive lineman Reed Bergstrom.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played at Scott Community under head coach Glenn O’Neil... Helped the Beavers win league and district championships in 2011 as they went 11-1... Played tight end in high school, catching 26 passes for 393 yards and two touchdowns over three seasons, including 15 receptions for 192 yards during his senior campaign... High school teammates with current K-State linebacker Colborn Couchman.
PERSONAL: Luke Hayes was born November 2, 1993, in Topeka, Kansas... Son of Larry and Sandra Hayes... Has three siblings, Dakota, Lane and Wyatt... Majoring in kinesiology.
