Athlete Q&A
How is rowing different than other sports you've been involved in?
Coming from a basketball background, rowing is different because there are no timeouts, no half times, no jogging down the court, and no breaks. You have to be willing to push yourself past the point of mental and physical exhaustion; but crossing the finish line is the best feeling in the world.
What has rowing taught you about yourself?
I have learned so much about myself through rowing. I am doing things everyday that I never thought I was capable of doing. I have learned that when I push myself as hard as my teammates are pushing themselves, really great things can happen.
What was it like to be recruited to the team?
I was recruited having no rowing experience in high school and I was very unsure about it at first. Without any knowledge of the sport, I came on the first day and found out that almost everybody felt the same way I did. It was very comforting to know that I had all these other girls who were going to walk through this with me and soon become my best friends.
