
Volleyball Places 15 on Big 12 Honor Roll

MANHATTAN, Kan. - The K-State volleyball team had 15 of its 20 student-athletes from the 2014 roster named to the Fall 2014 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in an announcement from the conference office last Friday. The conference recognizes all student-athletes at its member institutions during each semester with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Sophomore Kersten Kober was one of 39 Wildcats overall who earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall. The libero, who has been named to the conference's honor roll in each of her three semesters at K-State, was also an Academic All-Big 12 First Team honoree for the 2014 season.
Kober was joined by fellow Academic All-Big 12 standouts Katie Brand, Taylor Johnson, Chelsea Keating and Gina Madonia on the honor roll.
The remaining honor roll members include Mattie Batchelder, Kali Eaken, Devan Fairfield, Sami Flattum, Dallas Gardner, Natali Jones, Brookelyn Langhaim, Mary Alice O'Reilly, Brooke Sassin and Sheridan Zarda.
Among all Wildcat athletic teams, the football and rowing teams led the way with 67 and 54 honorees, respectively, on the Fall 2014 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. Other total student-athletes on the honor roll in addition to volleyball's 15 include: equestrian (31), women's track (31), men's track (23), baseball (11), women's basketball (10), women's tennis (9), women's golf (7), men's golf (7) and men's basketball (4). Ten of the 12 athletic program's at K-State placed 50 percent or more of its fall rosters on the honor roll - football, women's basketball, volleyball, rowing, men's golf, women's golf, women's tennis, equestrian, men's track and women's track.
This past December, 38 K-State student-athletes graduated during commencement ceremonies in Bramlage Coliseum, including three volleyball seniors: Keating (Animal Sciences & Industry), Johnson (Marketing and Management) and Jones (Life Sciences).
