
K-State Improves in Final Round, Finishes 10th in Season Opener

WOODBURY, Minn. – The Kansas State women's golf team carded the fifth-best final round at 3-under par 285 on Tuesday, climbing one spot to finish 10th at the Minnesota Invitational at the par-72, 6,248-yard Prestwick Golf Course.
K-State improved in each round of the tournament – shaving 10 strokes off its first-round score in the final 18 – to finish at 8-over par 872.
"I am really proud of the team today," head coach Kristi Knight said. "All of the ladies played some good golf. We picked up some nice wins this week and scored better each round."
Junior Chloe Weir tied for the third-lowest individual round of the day at 3-under par 69, climbing 24 spots to tie for 39th at 4-over par 220.
Freshman Reid Isaac recorded a top-20 finish in her first-career event as she tied for 19th at 1-under par 215. She birdied seven holes and eagled one hole in her K-State debut.
Senior Connie Jaffrey finished tied for 26th place at 1-over par 217, while freshman Niamh McSherry carded five birdies in the final round to move up 19 spots and finish tied for 50th place at 7-over par 223. Freshman Ella Adams shot a 10-over par 226 and tied for 61st place.
USC won the team competition with a score of 26-under par 838, nice strokes ahead of Michigan State. Purdue and Notre Dame tied for third place at 10-under par 854.
The Trojans' Muni He and the Boilermakers' Inez Wanamarta finished tied for first place at 10-under par 206 for the tournament.
K-State will be back in action on Sept. 17-19, as the Wildcats host the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational at Colbert Hills in Manhattan, Kansas.
