K-State’s Jaffrey Ready for NCAA Regionals
May 04, 2018 | Women's Golf
MANHATTAN, Kan. – Kansas State senior women's golfer Connie Jaffrey will travel to Madison, Wisconsin, Monday through Wednesday, to compete in the 2018 NCAA Madison Regional at the par-72, 6,313-yard University Ridge Golf Course.
Jaffrey, who will be competing in her second-consecutive regional and first solely as an individual, enters postseason play ranked 63rd among all collegiate individuals according to Golfstat. Coming in as the No. 1 individual seed in the regional, Jaffrey paced the Wildcats during the 2017-18 season with what currently ranks as the best annual stroke average in school history (72.66).
"We are looking forward to the Madison Regional and University Ridge Golf Course," K-State head coach Kristi Knight said. "I believe Connie will enjoy the course and the challenge it provides. Some of the holes are similar to Colbert Hills and a couple are similar to the Manhattan Country Club. Connie has shown she can play on any style of golf course."
The Kilwinning, Scotland, native also led the team in wins (2), top-10 finishes (4), and top-20 (4) finishes this season. She ranks second in school history for career wins (4), top-five (9) and top-10 (15) finishes.
Jaffrey's play in the postseason extends K-State's streak to four-straight years as Madison Talley was an individual in 2015 and 2016, while the team earned a bid last year. Jaffrey will be looking to improve off last year's performance in the 2017 NCAA Athens Regional, where she carded a 15-over par 231 to tie for 67th place.
Joining Jaffrey as individuals in the field will be No. 2-seed Pinyada Kuvanum (Toledo), third-seeded Pun Chanachai (New Mexico State), No. 4-seed Elsa Moberly (Eastern Kentucky), fifth-seeded Erin Harper (Indiana) and No. 6-seed Cara Basso (Penn State).
Jaffrey will be paired with Kuvanum and Chanachai during Monday's first round, and the trio will tee off hole No. 1 beginning at 9:30 a.m. Live results of the NCAA Madison Regional can be followed at www.golfstat.com.
