K-State, San Francisco to Meet in Fort Worth

MANHATTAN, Kan. – After relocating its home-opening series, K-State will meet San Francisco in Fort Worth, Texas, at Lupton Stadium to begin a three-game series on Friday at 3 p.m.
The Wildcats (3-5) will send junior Tyler Ekberg to the mound for the series opener for the third straight weekend, while freshman lefty Jordan Wicks will get the nod in Game 2. Junior Will Brennan is scheduled to start the series finale at 3 p.m. Admission is free to all three games at the home of the TCU Horned Frogs.
K-State won one of three games at the Tony Gwynn Legacy over the weekend in San Diego, Calif., defeating Utah 6-4 on Saturday. The Wildcats and Dons (4-3) met in San Francisco last season, with the Cats taking two of three games.

The Wildcats enter the weekend following an eight-game road trip through Southern California, going 3-5, including a 1-2 weekend at the Tony Gwynn Legacy in San Diego against Fresno State, Utah and co-host San Diego State ... After an 11-3 loss Friday to Fresno State, the Wildcats rebounded with a 6-4 victory over the Utah Utes ... Freshman left-handed pitcher Jordan Wicks has posted back-to-back Saturday starts to open the season, going 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA (3 ER, 12.0 IP) while collecting 13 strikeouts ... Against Utah last Saturday, Wicks turned in his first quality start as he went seven innings and gave up two earned runs on six hits with six strikeouts ... In his season debut, Wicks did not surrender a walk and struck out seven ... The Conway, Ark., product is tied for the team lead with 13 strikeouts with a 6.5 strikeout-to-walk ratio ... The Cats are 2-0 in games Wicks starts and he is slated to start Saturday vs. San Francisco.
LITTLEJIM, BIG BAT
Junior two-way player Caleb Littlejim leads the Cats with two home runs, with his second coming in a 6-4 win over Utah on Saturday ... In his first season playing in the field, Littlejim is hitting .300 (9-for-30) with four extra-base hits and six RBI ... His .567 slugging percentage ranks second on the team while his six RBI are tied for first ... In his first two seasons, Littlejim was exclusively a pitcher but did appear as a pinch runner ... In 2019, he has started every game and has moved into the No. 2 spot in the lineup.
SAVE THE BEST FOR LAST
K-State has scored more runs in the ninth inning (13) than any other inning ... Conversely, the Cats have only allowed two runs in the ninth inning for a +11 run differential - best of any single inning this season ... Junior Cameron Thompson is the only current Wildcat to have started every game of his K-State career, starting all 117 games now in his third season ... Thompson, who was tabbed a Freshman All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball in 2017, started all 54 games at shortstop last year after starting all 55 games at center and second base his freshman season ... Brennan leads the team in a number of offensive categories, including hitting, on-base percentage and slugging ...
