MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State men's golf team will continue its spring season on March 16-17 at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular, being played at the par-72, 6,793 yard El Campeon course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club located in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
The Wildcats are coming off of their best team finish of the year, where they placed 3rd out of 14th with a 4-over par 868 at the Colleton River Collegiate on March 4-5.
The two-day tournament will consists of 8:15 a.m. start times on both days, with 36 holes being played on Saturday, March 16th and the final 18 being played on Sunday, March 17th.
"We are looking forward to competing at Mission Inn this week", head coach Grant Robbins said. "This course is pretty demanding from tee to green, so we need to be sharp with our ballstriking. Par will go a long way here so it's important that we stay patient, keep the ball in play, and try to be below the hole on our approaches as much as possible."
K-State will send seniors Jeremy Gandon, Roland Massimino, and JC Campbell, as well as juniors Ben Fernandez and Jacob Eklund. Fernandez will be in the one slot, followed by Gandon, Massimino, Eklund and Campbell. This is the third straight tournament using this lineup.
For the second straight tournament, freshman Will Hopkins will join the team and compete as an individual.
K-State will be joined by 16 others, including Akron, Bethune-Cookman, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Florida A&M, tournament host George Mason, Illinois State, Indiana, Lehigh, North Alabama, Northern Illinois, Princeton, University of Central Florida, Wisconsin and Yale.
