
ITA Central Regionals Next for K-State Women’s Tennis

MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas State women's tennis program will travel to Iowa City, Iowa for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central Regional on Thursday (October 21) through Monday (October 25) at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
K-State is sending all eight members of the roster. The tournament will begin with a round of 128 doubles pairs at 8 a.m., CT on Thursday (October 21). Following the doubles round will be the first round of qualifying singles.
"I am glad that we're able to travel as a full team again after being separated for the last two outings," said head coach Jordan Smith. "This is an annual fall event for us each year. Therefore, I'm looking forward to seeing how we stack up against other programs in this great region, especially since several of them are on our schedule in the spring."
Competing at the ITA Central Regional are ranked opponents No. 24 Oklahoma, No. 34 Iowa State, No. 36 Arkansas, No. 39 Oklahoma State, No. 41 Iowa and No. 48 Tulsa.
"We've put some new doubles teams together for this event and are excited to see how all of our pairs perform," stated Smith. "Overall, our initial goal is to be competitive in all the matches and making sure to continue building towards a greater spring season."
The Wildcats last competed at the SMU Red and Blue Challenge in Dallas at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex from Friday (October 8) to Sunday (October 10).
Senior Karine-Marion Job finished out the finals Mustang Draw with a 7-5, 6-7(3), 10-1 victory over Texas Tech's Avelina Sayfetdinova. This was Job's second victory over a Big 12 singles opponent of the tournament.
Freshman Dinara Alloyarova teamed up with Texas Tech's Camryn Stepp and won their round robin draw. In the semifinals of the of the Blue Draw, Alloyarova defeated Central Arkansas' Fuka Nonoyama, 7-6, 6-3.
Senior Anna Turco came out with a two-set win over Central Arkansas' Jaeun Lee 6-1, 6-2 on the final day of competition after a three-set victory against Central Arkansas' Chunxi Xin 6-4, 7-6(4), 3-10 on day one.
