The Wildcats (9-4, 0-2 Big 12) hit .202 on the day, but the Bears (7-3, 2-0 Big 12) turned in an efficiency over .400 in each of the first two sets.
"I thought our side out efficiency was much better," said head coach Suzie Fritz. "I thought (Aliyah) Carter had a day. I thought she was tremendous. To hit .275 against a really good defensive team and make some really good attack choices. The rhythm between her and Te (Adams-Kaonohi) felt really good in this one, and I thought she held up well in serve receive, as well.
"I thought we put a little more pressure on them with our serving. Scoring points against these guys proved to be incredibly difficult. To put together any kind of a point-scoring run against them even when we were forcing them out of system."
Carter's stat line showed 14 kills through two sets, including seven on 11 swings without an error in the opening set. Teana Adams-Kaonohi had 16 assists on her team's 19 kills in set one, helping the Cats to a 19-17 edge in kills.

"I think the combination of Skinner, Pressley and Harrison, that's a really elite pin trio that is tough to contend with and that's back-to-back nights that they've gotten away from us," Fritz added. "I think they're likely to get away from a lot of people."
K-State trimmed a six-point deficit (20-14) to just two late in the first set following a kill from Fernholz, 23-21. Fernholz did not commit an error on eight swings with five kills, hitting .625. In the set, Carter and Fernholz combined for a dozen kills on 19 attempts without an error.
