Wildcats Host Red Raiders on Senior Night

MANHATTAN, Kan. – In the home finale of the 2022 season, Kansas State faces Texas Tech in the last week of Big 12 match-play Wednesday night at Bramlage Coliseum for senior night.

K-State (14-13, 5-9 Big 12) looks to snap a two-match slide after falling to TCU in four sets Saturday in Fort Worth.

Kayde Fernholz and Sydney Bolding had incredible performances as Fernholz collected a career-high 14 kills and Bolding recorded a career-best 10 blocks. Fernholz added six blocks while Bolding went for 11 kills and her first double-double of the season.

Junior Mackenzie Morris posted a match-best 19-dig night. Senior Loren Hinkle inked 47 assists, three kills and two aces as senior Elena Baka clinched her ninth double-double of the season, collecting 13 kills (.114) and ten digs.

Texas Tech (15-12, 4-10 Big 12) cut an eight-match losing streak on Saturday after sweeping West Virginia at home. The Red Raiders' only road conference win was at West Virginia on Sept. 24.

The Wildcats lead the all-time series 42-15 and are 4-1 in the last five matchups in the series after dropping to TTU earlier this season. The Cats are 23-3 all-time at home versus Texas Tech while head coach Suzie Fritz is 34-9 in her career against the Red Raiders.

  • Her 1.31 blocks per set is second-best in the Big 12 and ranks 31st nationally while her total (130) sits third in the conference and 46th in the NCAA.
  • The senior's hitting .330 hitting percentage tops the Wildcats for the season. 
  • Bolding four times has produced four aces this season, including four coming in the first set alone against St. Thomas. 
  • The four aces matched a career-high, as she has nine matches with multiple aces this season (two such matches last season). 
  • She pass the record for a K-State middle blocker in the rally-scoring era with 38 aces, making her the leading middle in aces.
  • She was named to the Rambler Challenge All-Tournament Team, her second all-tournament team selection after also being voted to the K-State Invitational All-Tournament Team. 
  • Bolding notched a career-high 14 kills on Nov. 11 against the Cyclones (.414) and collected a career-best 10 blocks against TCU Saturday.
