Track and Field Back at Ahearn Field House for DeLoss Dodds Weekend

The field events will start the day on Friday at 3:00 p.m. CT

MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State men's and women's track and field teams are back at Ahearn Field House on Friday (January 20) and Saturday (January 21) for the DeLoss Dodds Invitational.
 
On Friday, the field events start with the Erin Anderson women's pole vault at 3 p.m. CT, while the track events begin at 5:30 p.m. CT with the women's 60-meter hurdles. On Saturday, the Dani Winters women's shot put will start the field events at 10 a.m. CT with the track events starting at 12 p.m. CT with the women's mile run.
 
The two-day meet is free and open to the public.
 
Other participating schools include Hesston College, Missouri State, Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Oral Roberts.
 
In the last meet at the KU-KSU-WSU Triangular (January 13), the K-State men's and women's teams finished second with a combined 204 points behind Kansas' 268.
 
Senior Shalysa Wray won the women's High Point Award with 15.75 points with first-place finishes in the 60 and 200 meters as well as the mixed 4x400-meter relay.
 
Wray broke the 60-meter dash facility record of 7.42 at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Facility with her new personal-best time of 7.38 seconds. In the 200m dash she broke the previous meet record of 23.95 set in 2016 by A'Keyla Mitchell with her new personal-best time of 23.85 seconds. In the final event of the day, the mixed 4x400m relay she completed the first leg and contributed to a new meet record of 3:26.48, which broke the previous record set by Kansas in 2018 of 3:27.42.
 
Additionally, the Wildcats also got first-place finishes from six others, including sophomore Monique Hardy and junior Kade McCall in the men's and women's weight throw, transfers sophomore Marcus Gelpi in the men's high jump and junior Shalom Olotu in the women's triple jump, sophomore Grace Thompson in the women's shot put and junior Kyle Gale in the men's 600 yards, where he set a personal-best and meet record time of 1:08.59.
