K-State Has 22 Top-5 Finishes at Rock Chalk Classic

K-State ends the regular season hosting the Ward Haylett Invitational May 6
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Juniors Emma Robbins and Kade McCall each had successful days in the hammer throw to help lead the Kansas State men's and women's track and field teams at the Rock Chalk Classic in Lawrence, Kan., at Rock Chalk Park.
Robbins and McCall were among 22 Wildcats to earn top-5 finishes at the one-day meet highlighted by Robbins' win in women's hammer throw with a distance of 64.76m/212-5. McCall achieved a personal-best in the men's hammer throw with a fourth-place toss of 67.98m/223-0 to top his previous best from the NCAA Championships last season.
Two more women rounded out the hammer throw top-5, as sophomore Monique Hardy finished in third place at 60.83m/199-7, while junior Charlotte Cattermole-Williams placed fourth with a throw of 56.80m/186-4.
Juniors Shalysa Wray and O'Shalia Johnson each placed in the top-5 in the women's 400 meters with Wray finishing second in 54.36 seconds and Johnson finishing fourth at 54.74 seconds. Junior Tim Lambert Jr. and freshman Twaneise Johnson each had successful days in the 200 meters with personal bests. Lambert finished eighth in 21.31 seconds, while Johnson ran 24.99 seconds to place 16th place out of 42 competitors.
Two women competed in the hurdles, as sophomore Ludivine Aubert finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.11, while junior Urte Bacianskaite recorded a new personal best in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.65 seconds to finish 13th out of 30 competitors.
Junior Briana Lowe took fourth in the women's javelin throw with a distance of 44.46m/145-10, while freshman Saydee Tanking finished in fifth place with a throw of 42.27m/138-8. Also throwing today was freshman Tamaiah Koonce who recorded a new personal best in the discus throw at 54.12m/177-7 to place fourth.
In the men's high jump sophomore Marcus Gelpi tied for second with a height of 2.12m/6-11.50, while Devon Richardson was right behind in fourth place at 2.07m/6-9.5.
Distance runners -- juniors Sydney Burton and Cailan Steward -- finished fifth in their respective events. Burton ran in the 800 meter Invitational with a time of 2:13.08 and Steward ran 18:04.03 in the 5,000 meters.
Five K-State relays competed in the 4x400, as the women's 'A' team of O. Johnson, Wray, T. Johnson and Aubert finished fourth with a time of 3:46.56, while the men's 'A' team took second in 3:12.19 with junior Kyle Gale, sophomores Emil Uhlin and Darian Clarke and Lambert.
All three women in the shot put took residence in the top-five, as sophomore Grace Thompson took second place with a throw of 15.30m/50-2.5. Junior Jasmine Greer finished fourth in 15.09m/49-6.25, with junior Jaycee Schroeder right behind in fifth at 14.30m/46-11.
K-State will finish the regular season by hosting the Ward Haylett Invitational at the R.V. Christian Track on Saturday May 6.
