McCall Earns Second Team All-America Honors

This is his second straight year with the All-America honors
AUSTIN, Texas – Junior Kade McCall earned Second Team All-American honors for the second consecutive season in the men's hammer throw on Wednesday (June 7) on the first day of the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
McCall placed 14th in the event with his third and best throw of the day at 68.72m/225-5, which was less than a foot shorter than his personal best and K-State school record. He opened the competition with a throw of 67.56m/221-8 before posting a mark of 65.01m/213-3.
"Kade's performance today was another example of how incredibly consistent he has been all season long!" assistant coach Greg Watson said. "From the beginning to the end he competed very well!"
McCall earned All-America honors for the first time in his career in 2022 after placing 13th in the men's hammer with a distance of 67.56m/221-8.
McCall enjoyed a strong outdoor season in 2023, breaking his own school record twice, including his current best mark of 68.97m/226-3 set at the Big 12 Championships on May 12. He advanced to the NCAA Championships by placing eighth at the NCAA West Prelims with a mark of 68.94m/226-2. He started the season by winning the UTSA Invitational on March 17-18.
Sophomore Kenneth Ikeji of Harvard won the men's hammer throw with a throw of 77.92m/255-8, a new facility record.
On Thursday (June 8) junior Emma Robbins will compete in the women's hammer throw at 3:30 p.m., CT.
