Wildcats' Defense Forges Identity

• Under Mittie, K-State is 124-14 (.899) when holding its foes to 60 points or less including a 44-2 (.957) record over the last three seasons and an 18-0 record this season. During K-State's 13-game winning streak, the Wildcats have held all 13 opponents to 60 or fewer points.
• In the season-opener, K-State held Presbyterian to 35 points. This marked the fewest points allowed by the Wildcats since holding UT Martin to 30 points on November 12, 2021.

• Entering the ninth season of the quarter system in women's college basketball, K-State's defense has limited its opponents point production for 10 minute durations.
• Kansas State is 91-28 (.765) when holding an opponent to single digits in any quarter in a game. The Wildcats are 13-0 this season when holding an opponent to single digits in any quarter of a game.
• This season, K-State has held its opponents to 21 quarters with single digits.
• K-State held Presbyterian and Little Rock to three quarters in each game with single digit scoring.
• The Wildcats held Cincinnati on Dec. 30 to a season-low three points in the second quarter on a 6.3 percent (1-of-16) from the field.

Wildcats Picking Pockets
• The Wildcats continue to swipe the basketball at a high rate. K-State has 171 steals (8.6 spg) this season. Of the 332 opponent turnovers this season, 51.5 percent have come off a K-State steal.
• K-State has eight games with 10 or more steals this season.
• K-State opened the 2023-24 season with 18 steals against Presbyterian. Of the 24 turnovers by the Blue Hose, 75.0 percent came from a Wildcat steal.
• The Wildcats saw each member of its starting five record two or more steals, led by Jaelyn Glenn and Brylee Glenn with four steals each.

• K-State featured three players with 60 or more steals last season: Jaelyn Glenn (91), Sundell (67) and Brylee Glenn (61). The trio had the most combined steals of any three teammates in the Big 12 last season (219).

Sundell Surpasses 1K Mark
• In addition to her distribution skills, guard Serena Sundell adds a scoring punch to the K-State lineup.
• During her career, Sundell has scored 1,073 points (12.1 ppg) and was the 45th player in school history to score 1,000 points in her career and currently ranks 37th on the K-State career scoring list. She has tallied double figures in 57 career games.
• This season, Sundell is averaging 11.1 points on a career-high .548 field goal percentage. She registered a personal season-high 22 points at UCF on Jan. 6 and has scored in double figures in 12 games, including two games with 20 or more.
• During the 2022-23 season, Sundell was second on the team and 12th in the Big 12 in scoring with 13.9 points per game on a career-best .489 field goal percentage. In Big 12 games, she averaged 15.11 points and ranked eighth in the league.
• Sundell recorded a personal career-high 501 points last season. She was the seventh player in program history to score 500 or more points in their sophomore season. Her total ranked tied for sixth for a sophomore season at K-State.
• In the 2022-23 season, the product of Maryville, Missouri, scored in double figures in 26 games including eight games with 20 or more points, which ranked tied for sixth in the Big 12 last season.
• At Oklahoma on March 1, Sundell carded a career-high 33 points on 11-of-17 shooting. She joined Gabby Gregory as the only Wildcats last season with 30 or more points in a game.
• Sundell earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career by leading the Big 12 in scoring (22.5) during the week of games on Feb. 20-26.
• Against Kansas on Feb. 22, Sundell registered the most unique stat line in the nation. According to Stats Perform, Sundell was the only player last season, one of four since 1999-00 and the only player in the Big 12 since 1999-00 to record 24 points on 80 percent shooting and also registering seven assists, five rebounds, four steals and one block.
Maupin Emerges
• Eliza Maupin has aided the K-State attack in the last two games.
• In her last two games, Maupin is averaging 12.0 points on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals. At Baylor, Maupin recorded a career-high 16 points with a career-best six field goals made and hauled in nine rebounds. In the two games, Maupin nearly scored more points than she had scored the entire season (24 to 26).
• This season, K-State is averaging 3.3 points on a career-best .760 field goal percentage, 2.3 rebounds and 0.6 steals. In her last three games with a field goal attempt (vs. Southern, vs. Kansas, at Baylor), Maupin is a perfect 11-of-11 from field.
• Maupin emerged as a dynamic player off the bench late in the 2022-23 season for the Wildcats.
• Over the last 10 games of the 2022-23 season, the forward from Webster Groves, Missouri,  averaged 6.6 points on a .585 field goal percentage, 4.2 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 17.0 minutes of action.
• In her first 12 Big 12 games, Maupin had scored 17 points and pulled in 11 rebounds.
• Maupin averaged 4.1 points on a .571 field goal percentage with 2.9 rebounds in the 2022-23 season. She had six games with 10 or more points including a pair of double-doubles.

• The Wildcats lead the Big 12 and rank fourth in the nation for scoring defense, leads the Big 12 and are second in the nation for field goal percentage defense and leads the nation for 3-point field goal percentage defense (.216). According to HerHoopStats, K-State is second in the nation and leads the Big 12 in opponent points per 100 possessions (72.8).
• Under Mittie, K-State is 124-14 (.899) when holding its foes to 60 points or less including a 44-2 (.957) record over the last three seasons and an 18-0 record this season. During K-State's 13-game winning streak, the Wildcats have held all 13 opponents to 60 or fewer points.
• In the season-opener, K-State held Presbyterian to 35 points. This marked the fewest points allowed by the Wildcats since holding UT Martin to 30 points on November 12, 2021.
• During the last 21 seasons, K-State is 135-3 (.978) when holding an opponent to 49 points or less including a 54-0 mark in the Mittie era. During Mittie's tenure K-State has held 18 opponents to 40 or fewer points.
• The Wildcats held Iowa on Nov. 16 to 58 points, 34 points below its 2023-24 season average and their fewest points since 2019.
K-State Holds Foes to Single-Digits
• Entering the ninth season of the quarter system in women's college basketball, K-State's defense has limited its opponents point production for 10 minute durations.
• Kansas State is 91-28 (.765) when holding an opponent to single digits in any quarter in a game. The Wildcats are 13-0 this season when holding an opponent to single digits in any quarter of a game.
• This season, K-State has held its opponents to 21 quarters with single digits.
• K-State held Presbyterian and Little Rock to three quarters in each game with single digit scoring.
• The Wildcats held Cincinnati on Dec. 30 to a season-low three points in the second quarter on a 6.3 percent (1-of-16) from the field.
• Against Houston on Jan. 3, K-State limited Houston to 14 second half points including five points in the fourth quarter. The 14 points in the second half were the fewest K-State has allowed in the second half this season and fewest since holding Clemson on Nov. 24, 2022, to nine second half points.
• At Baylor on Jan. 22, the Wildcats held the Bears to 16 points in the second half allowing eight points in both the third and fourth quarters. This was the first time in 10 years that Baylor was held under 20 points in the second half of a game.
Wildcats Picking Pockets
• The Wildcats continue to swipe the basketball at a high rate. K-State has 171 steals (8.6 spg) this season. Of the 332 opponent turnovers this season, 51.5 percent have come off a K-State steal.
• K-State has eight games with 10 or more steals this season.
• K-State opened the 2023-24 season with 18 steals against Presbyterian. Of the 24 turnovers by the Blue Hose, 75.0 percent came from a Wildcat steal.
• The Wildcats saw each member of its starting five record two or more steals, led by Jaelyn Glenn and Brylee Glenn with four steals each.
• Since joining the Wildcats as freshmen in the 2021-22 season, the trio of the Glenn sisters and Serena Sundell have combined for 428 steals (4.81 per game in 89 games). The 428 steals in the last three seasons are 56.9 percent of K-State's 752 total steals.
• Kansas State displayed quick hands in the 2022-23 season, as the Wildcats pocketed 336 steals and were second in the Big 12 in steals per game (9.33 spg). Of the 614 opponent turnovers, 54.7 percent came by way of a K-State steal.Â
• According to HerHoopStats.com, K-State ranked third in the Big 12 with a steal rate (percent of opponent plays that result in a steal) of 11.0 percent. During the Jeff Mittie era at K-State, the 2022-23 steal rate ranked second over the nine-season span, trailing the 2014-15 season (14.4 percent).
• K-State featured three players with 60 or more steals last season: Jaelyn Glenn (91), Sundell (67) and Brylee Glenn (61). The trio had the most combined steals of any three teammates in the Big 12 last season (219).
• Since at least the 2009-10 season, the 2022-23 season marked the first time K-State featured three players with 60 or more steals.
Sundell Surpasses 1K Mark
• In addition to her distribution skills, guard Serena Sundell adds a scoring punch to the K-State lineup.
• During her career, Sundell has scored 1,073 points (12.1 ppg) and was the 45th player in school history to score 1,000 points in her career and currently ranks 37th on the K-State career scoring list. She has tallied double figures in 57 career games.
• This season, Sundell is averaging 11.1 points on a career-high .548 field goal percentage. She registered a personal season-high 22 points at UCF on Jan. 6 and has scored in double figures in 12 games, including two games with 20 or more.
• During the 2022-23 season, Sundell was second on the team and 12th in the Big 12 in scoring with 13.9 points per game on a career-best .489 field goal percentage. In Big 12 games, she averaged 15.11 points and ranked eighth in the league.
• Sundell recorded a personal career-high 501 points last season. She was the seventh player in program history to score 500 or more points in their sophomore season. Her total ranked tied for sixth for a sophomore season at K-State.
• In the 2022-23 season, the product of Maryville, Missouri, scored in double figures in 26 games including eight games with 20 or more points, which ranked tied for sixth in the Big 12 last season.
• At Oklahoma on March 1, Sundell carded a career-high 33 points on 11-of-17 shooting. She joined Gabby Gregory as the only Wildcats last season with 30 or more points in a game.
• Sundell earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career by leading the Big 12 in scoring (22.5) during the week of games on Feb. 20-26.
• Against Kansas on Feb. 22, Sundell registered the most unique stat line in the nation. According to Stats Perform, Sundell was the only player last season, one of four since 1999-00 and the only player in the Big 12 since 1999-00 to record 24 points on 80 percent shooting and also registering seven assists, five rebounds, four steals and one block.
Maupin Emerges
• Eliza Maupin has aided the K-State attack in the last two games.
• In her last two games, Maupin is averaging 12.0 points on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals. At Baylor, Maupin recorded a career-high 16 points with a career-best six field goals made and hauled in nine rebounds. In the two games, Maupin nearly scored more points than she had scored the entire season (24 to 26).
• This season, K-State is averaging 3.3 points on a career-best .760 field goal percentage, 2.3 rebounds and 0.6 steals. In her last three games with a field goal attempt (vs. Southern, vs. Kansas, at Baylor), Maupin is a perfect 11-of-11 from field.
• Maupin emerged as a dynamic player off the bench late in the 2022-23 season for the Wildcats.
• Over the last 10 games of the 2022-23 season, the forward from Webster Groves, Missouri,  averaged 6.6 points on a .585 field goal percentage, 4.2 rebounds and 0.7 blocks in 17.0 minutes of action.
• In her first 12 Big 12 games, Maupin had scored 17 points and pulled in 11 rebounds.
• Maupin averaged 4.1 points on a .571 field goal percentage with 2.9 rebounds in the 2022-23 season. She had six games with 10 or more points including a pair of double-doubles.
