Carter, Larkin Voted to All-Big 12 Teams
Dec 03, 2024 | Volleyball
MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State graduate outside hitter Aliyah Carter and senior libero and defensive specialist Ella Larkin were each named All-Big 12 selections, as the conference announced its annual award winners Tuesday.
Carter collected her second consecutive first-team honor and fourth of her career, while Larkin earned second-team recognition. In total, nineteen student-athletes were selected to the All-Big 12 First Team while 17 were named to the Second Team. Ten freshmen were chosen to the All-Big 12 Rookie Team. A full list of the honorees can be found below.
Carter's selection highlights a standout career where she was named to the AVCA First Team All-Midwest Region three times and garnered seven Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week titles, which ranks seventh all-time in league history. Last season, she earned AVCA All-American Honorable Mention.
In regular-season matches, the 2020 Big 12 and AVCA Midwest Region Freshman of the Year finished second in six offensive categories, including total kills (455) and kills per set (4.38). Carter was one of only nine players from Power 4 programs to compile over 450 kills this season.
Carter ends her career with a program-record 12 conference weekly awards, and second all-time in total kills (1,839), total points (2,040.5) and in career matches with 20 or more kills (26), along with 34 double-doubles.
Larkin, a product of Maize, Kansas, had a breakout year in her first season in a Wildcat uniform. The 5-foot-10 libero and defensive specialist finished the season with 12 matches producing 20 or more digs, which is good for third in the program's single-season records.
She anchored a Wildcat defense that ended the year leading the Big 12 with 1,776 total digs and 16.75 digs per set. Individually, Larkin finished third in the conference in total digs and digs per set (4.64), while her 492 digs this season ranks 10th in the single-season records during the rally-scoring era.
With her 33 digs against UC Davis on August 31, Larkin led K-State to its first match with over 100 digs since 2019, while she finished as one of five student-athletes from the league to generate a 30-dig match during the regular season.
The duo's honors make six all-conference selections under second-year head coach Jason Mansfield, and it is the 23rd season in school history which multiple players received all-league recognition. K-State concluded its 2024 season with an overall record of 10-17, while finishing eighth in the league standings with an 8-10 Big 12 record.
