
K-State Set for Two-Day Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville

Events kick off at 1:45 p.m. CT on Friday
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams will head to Fayetteville, Ark. to compete in the Tyson Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 9-10) for the third year in a row.
On Friday, the field events will start at 1:45 p.m. CT with the men's pole vault, the track events kicking off at 2:30 p.m. with the women's qualifying 60 meter dash.
Day two resumes at 10:30 a.m. with the women's pole vault, the women's 800 meters starting on the track at 12:30 p.m.
Last weekend the Wildcats competed in the DeLoss Dodds Invitational, the inaugural meet at the new K-State Indoor Track & Field Complex.
The meet was highlighted by two broken school records in the men's weight throw and men's 4x400 relay. Senior Kade McCall threw his third weight throw personal best this season at 21.72m/71-3, almost two inches better than the previous record set by Mitch Dixon during the same meet in 2018.
In the first heat of the men's 4x400 relay, seniors Eugene Omalla, Kyle Gale, Jaimie Omalla and freshman Tavon Underwood broke the school record with a time of 3:04.84, beating the previous time of 3:09.89 in 1989. Their time is currently no. 1 in the Big 12 Conference and no. 6 in the NCAA.
