
Wildcats to Compete at Jim Click Shootout and in Wichita

Hermes competes in the decathlon Wednesday, Thursday, the Wildcats to Tucson on Friday
MANHATTAN, Kan. – The K-State track and field teams compete this weekend at the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson, Arizona, also sending one athlete to compete in the decathlon in Wichita, Kan., starting on Wednesday (April 3).
Graduate student Michael Hermes will compete in the decathlon at the Wichita State Combined Events on Wednesday and Thursday at Cessna Stadium. The first five events will begin on Wednesday with the 100 meter dash at 12 p.m., resuming on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. with the 110 meter hurdles.
Hermes graduated from the University of Pennsylvania where he recorded his best decathlon at 4,903 points during the Duke Invitational last season.
The rest of the team will travel to Tucson for the Jim Click Shootout on Friday and Saturday (April 5-6) at Drachman Stadium hosted by the University of Arizona.
On Friday, competition will begin with the women's hammer throw and javelin at 1 p.m. CT. The women's pole vault will start Saturday's competition at 1 p.m. CT, the track events beginning with the men's 110 meter hurdles at 2:30 p.m. CT.
Last weekend the Wildcats competed in the Shocker Spring Invitational with multiple top-three performances and personal bests in both the track and field events. Senior Jaycee Schroeder won the women's shot put with a new personal best throw by almost two feet at 53-6.50, sophomore Saydee Tanking won the women's javelin throw with her new best throw by nine feet at 45.80m/150-3. Sophomore Claire Bybee cleared a new height in the pole vault as runner-up at 4.05m/13-3.
