K-State Starts Five-Match Road Trip at #20 Baylor Wednesday

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State will begin a five-match road trip Wednesday night, as the Wildcats face No. 20 Baylor at 7 p.m. at Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas. The Wildcats continue their time in the Lone Star State and head to Fort Worth to take on No. 11 TCU on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
 
The Wildcats (10-4, 3-3 Big 12) head into Week 4 of league action at No. 9 in the Big 12 standings, while TCU (14-3, 4-1 Big 12) is No. 3 and Baylor (9-6, 4-3 Big 12) is No. 8.

SCOUTING #20 BAYLOR
  • The No. 20 Bears (9-6, 4-3 Big 12) look to snap a three-match losing that included back-to-back top-25 matchups against No. 18 Kansas and No. 8 Arizona State.
  • Baylor boasts an impressive 5-1 mark at home this season.
  • Offensively, senior middle blocker Manuela Bibinbe paces the Bears with 157 kills (2.71 per set) while hitting .256 and recently surpassing 200 career blocks.
  • Freshman outside hitter Ksenia Rakhmanchik was named the Big 12's Rookie of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
  • The Minsk, Belarus ranks second on the team with 135 kills (2.60 per set) and has recorded double-digit kills in five-straight matches.
  • Defensively, Morgan Madison anchors the back row with a team-best 207 digs (3.57 digs/set), while Gabrielle Essix leads with 67.0 blocks (1.22 blocks/set).

  • TCU (14-3, 4-1 Big 12) checked in at No. 11 in the latest AVCA Coaches Top 25 poll. The Horned Frogs are third in the league behind Colorado and Arizona State, while their 4-1 league record marks their best start since joining the Big 12 in 2012.
  • TCU has won 16 straight matches on its home court dating back to last season (8-0 in 2025) and are 22-1 in Schollmaier Arena since the start of 2024.

  • She followed with a season-best seven blocks and a career-high .667 hitting percentage in the match against Texas Tech.
  • A native of Lantana, Texas, Williams led the Big 12 in hitting percentage (.563) for the week and ranked among the league's best defensively, finishing fifth with 1.25 blocks per set behind a league-high total of 10 blocks.
 
DIGGY SIMS
  • Libero and defensive specialist Symone Sims, from Frisco, Texas, anchored a K-State defense that limited opponents to a .153 hitting percentage, the second-best mark in the Big 12 for the week.
  • Sims totaled 36 digs, averaging 4.50 per set, which ranked third in the league in both categories.
  • She posted a career-high 25 digs in a five-set thriller against Iowa State and followed with 11 digs against Texas Tech, marking her eighth straight match with double-digit digs and 10th overall this season.
 
MYERS MAYHEM
  • Senior Shaylee Myers' has recorded double-digit kills in all but one match this season, reaching the 20-kill mark in seven that includes a record-breaking 34 kills against West Virginia (Oct. 1).
  • Myers has earned the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week award twice this season (Sept. 23, Oct. 7).
  • She became the first player in the rally-scoring era to record 34 kills in a single match and just the fourth in program history to reach the milestone.
  • Her 34 kills are the most kills by any Big 12 player in a match this season.
  • Myers is only the second player in school history to post 39.5 or more points in a match, setting a new rally-scoring era record.
  • Tied the program record for service aces in a five-set match, becoming the fifth player in the rally-scoring era to notch five aces.
 
ANIYA-LATOR
  • Clinton, who was selected to the 2025 Preseason All-Big 12 Volleyball Team, has eclipsed the 20-kill mark in three matches this season.
  • She matched a career-best 25 kills twice this season at West Virginia (Oct. 1) and at Cincinnati (Oct. 3).
  • A product of Midland, Texas, Clinton is second on the team with 197 kills (3.72 per set) while hitting at a .189 efficiency with 2.32 digs per set and 0.40 blocks per set with 10 service aces.
  • The 6-foot-2 outside hitter/ opposite was one of 18 Big 12 players to earn a spot on the conference's preseason squad.
  • In 2023, Clinton was named to the All-Big 12 Rookie Team and earned multiple Big 12 Rookie of the Week honors.
 
DOUBLE DOWN
  • Ava LeGrand, Aniya Clinton and Shaylee Myers have each recorded a double-double this season for K-State, with all three registering double-doubles at Cincinnati.
  • LeGrand leads the way with six, followed by Clinton with four and Myers has one.
  • The trio combine for 15 double-doubles in their respective careers.
 
SENIOR STACKED
  • K-State's four seniors are leading the team in nearly every major statistical category.
  • Myers paces the offense with 260 total kills, 4.91 kills per set, 286.5 points, and 5.41 points per set, as well as service aces (15).
  • LeGrand leads the team and is fourth in the league with 10.19 assists per set, while her 14 service aces are good for second on the team.
  • Brenna Schmidt leads the way in blocks per set (1.20), while Jordyn Williams leads overall in total blocks (48.0) and hitting percentage (.391).
 
SHINING IN PURPLE
  • Five of K-State's six true freshman made their collegiate debuts during the Wildcats' non-conference schedule.
  • Defensive specialist/libero Caleigh Ponn has appeared in all but three sets in her true freshman season, while middle blocker Cadence Lundgren has played in 28.   
  • Lundgren has made seven match starts and totaled 29.0 blocks this season (0.82 blocks/set), that includes four solo blocks.
  • Redshirt freshman Emerson Van Lannen is third on the team in service aces (13), recording a season-high three twice against East Carolina (Sept. 20) and at West Virginia (Oct. 1).
 
CATS VS. THE BIG 12
  • K-State is ninth in the league standings with a 3-3 conference record, that includes a 2-0 record when playing on the road.
  • In Big 12 matches, the Cats' offense is led by Myers, who is second in the league in total kills (121) and total points (131.5) in league matches. Myers is third in kills per set (4.84) and points per set (5.26) in Big 12 matches.
  • Williams paves the way at the net, tallying .92 blocks per set (23 total blocks) which includes a team-leading four solo blocks. She also leads with a .416 hitting percentage in league games.
  • Offensively, the Wildcats are third in the league in kills per set (13.68) in conference only matches.
  • The Cats 286-248 all-time in Big 12 play, including a 21-21 record under Mansfield, while the program boasts an overall conference record of 339-383.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Wildcats are undefeated when leading in kills and attack percentage and are 9-0 when hitting above .200 with four victories hitting north of .300.  ..
  • Additionally, the Cats are 6-1 when they have limited their opponents to a hitting efficiency under .200. In four of those wins, opponents hit under .100.  
  • Conversely, K-State is 4-3 when opponents post a team efficiency above .200.
  • K-State has out-blocked opponents in seven matches (6-1), totaling a season-high 10 against in four matches (last: vs. Texas Tech, October 10).
