Wildcats Hit the Road for Battle Against #5 Auburn

This will be the first meeting between the Wildcats and Tigers
MANHATTAN, Kan.- The K-State women's tennis team hits the road on Saturday (Feb. 15) to face its first ranked opponent of the season in Auburn at 11 a.m. CT at Yarbrough Tennis Center.

K-State (2-2) will compete on the road for the first time in dual action against #5 Auburn (10-1) in the first meeting between the two programs.

The Tigers have multiple women ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings from February 5. In the singles rankings, DJ Bennett is no. 2, Angella Okutoyi is no. 58 and Ava Hrastar is no. 116. Also in the doubles rankings are Bennett and Hrastar at no. 12 and Okutoyi and Merna Refaat at no. 51.

In the Wildcats last match up on February 9 against Kentucky the team fell short 4-0. Doubles pair sophomores Maralgoo Chogsomjav and Charlotte Keitel won the only doubles match, defeating Tess Bucher and Zoe Hammond 6-4. Sophomore Tereza Polakova was leading Ellie Eades, 6-2, before the match went unfinished 1-0 in the next set.

In those ITA rankings from Feb. 5, K-State is featured with two doubles pairs. At no. 70 is senior Veronika Kulhava and Polakova while Chogsomjav and junior Maria Santos sit at no. 81.
