Cats Trek to Morgantown for First Big 12 Road Trip

MANHATTAN, Kan. – K-State opens its road portion of its Big 12 schedule Wednesday, beginning a two-match trip at West Virginia inside WVU Coliseum at 5 p.m. CT.

The Wildcats (7-3, 0-2 Big 12) look to snap a two-match losing streak – their longest of the season – against the Mountaineers (12-1, 0-1 Big 12), before traveling to face Cincinnati (9-3, 1-1 Big 12) on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Fifth Third Avenue. Both matches will stream on ESPN+ and the ESPN app.

- Coming off an 0-2 opening Big 12 weekend, K-State (7-3, 0-2 Big 12) looks to grab its first Big 12 win of the season in Morgantown.

SCOUTING WEST VIRGINIA
- Last time out, West Virginia (12-1, 0-1 Big 12) fell in four sets to Cincinnati in its Big 12 opener.
- The Mountaineers were led by offensively by junior outside hitter Nina Horning with 14 kills.
- Redshirt senior outside hitter Cassidy Tanton leads WVU with 132 kills (2.81 per set).
- Tanton is followed by Horning, who averages 2.53 kills/set, and Trinity Sheridan (2.52 kills/set). Both players have reached the 100-kill mark.
- Redshirt junior setter Alexis Finnvold leads the Mountaineers with 21 service aces, which ranks fourth in the conference. Her 0.45 aces per set rank fifth in the conference.
- WVU is currently second in the conference in aces per set (1.94), hitting percentage (0.296) and team service aces (91).
- Jen Greeny is in her 19th season overall (367-221) and second at the helm of the Mountaineers program, leading the team to an overall record of 20-22.

SCOUTING CINCINNATI
- Cincinnati (9-3, 1-1 Big 12) is coming off a four-set victory over West Virginia.
- The Bearcats were led by 19 kills from Sydney Nolan and Carly Glendinning, who notched her fourth double-double of the season with 18 kills and 13 digs. Glendinning hit at a .412 clip while setter Andi Spies dished out 52 assists.
- Nolan leads the offense, averaging 4.53 kills/set followed by Glendinning (3.67 kills/set). Nolan's 4.53 kills average ranks third in the league and 17th in the country.
- Spies, who averages 9.71 assists per set, orchestrates an offense that leads the Big 12 and ranks eighth in the nation in hitting percentage (.298).
- Defensively, the Bearcats are third in the Big 12 in digs per set (14.18) and blocks per set (2.63).
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Last season, K-State recovered from a 2-0 hole by taking the final three sets from Cincinnati at Fifth Third Arena for its first Big 12 road victory of the season, 19-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-18, 19-17.
